The black I2 Bass and Cello Microphone Kit with cH-Style 4-Pin Connector for Audio Technica ATW-T5201 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version features increased sensitivity for distance miking and captures detail for quieter instruments. Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the bass and cello mount, which sits securely behind the bridge with a positioning arm for placement. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-T5201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very high rejection for sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the receiver have an SD card slot or a way to store the files without going through a camera or phone?

A: The receiver does not record audio files by itself. To record audio without a camera or phone, you plug this system into an external audio recorder, and record to an SD card, such as this B&H # ZOH1N.

Q: 2. Can two of these units be used at the same time in close proximity to record four people? Would there be any interference between them?

A: As per Comica, they recommend no more than 3 units to be used together at the same time.

Q: 3. Can I connect to any recording devices like a Zoom? Or can it only connect to a smartphone or camera?

A: Yes, you can use the Comica Audio BoomX-D D1 with a Zoom recorder. The wireless system can be connected to a standard mic input on a camera, recorder, mixer, amplifier, computer, and just about any device with a mic input. It is not limited to cameras and smartphones only. You can also use adapters if you need to connect the receiver to an XLR input on a recorder, mixer, amplifier or pro camcorder, and there are also adapters to connect to the Lightning port on an iPhone or to USB-C on an Android phone. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or need further assistance.

Q: 4. I am using the Yongnuo RF-603C II Wireless Flash Trigger Kit with my Canon 5d Mark iii as a shutter release/flash trigger. I have one unit in the camera's hot shoe with the sync cord running from it to the three pin shutter release connector on the camera. The second unit is attached to my Canon 600EX-RT speedlight. This works as expected, however, I cannot call up anything on my LCD while the Yongnuo is connected. No menus, no previews, nothing. Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how to fix it? THX

A: That is normal with the RF-603CII

Q: 5. What sort of windscreen comes with it? Necessary to buy an additional one to minimize breaths and pops?

A: It's a standard slip on cap windscreen -- I have found it to be more than sufficient for wind, particularly mounted inside -- I don;t get a lot of breath noise at that distance/angle -- main issue is clothing rustle.

Q: 6. Is it true that other brand mics won't work on these comica wireless kits? can anyone confirm if they've been able to use better mics than the ones included?

A: Other branded microphones besides COMICA will work with this system. RODE and Countryman to name a few are compatible. Navigate to the "ACCESSORIES" tab and then click on "Lavalier Microphones". https://bhpho.to/3xRCBpq

Q: 7. Will this work on a Leica M10 to trigger a YN560 set in manual mode?

A: Technically this should work with the Leica M10 and a manual flash. The radio sync has a standard hot-shoe so it will fit the flash and the camera’s shoe. Note, it has not been tested specific with that camera and flash combined.

Q: 8. Can I attach the Android version to a phone even if there is a case on?

A: It really depends on the case you have and how much access you have to the phone's USB-C port. The UC receiver does need to be plugged in all the way in order to function properly. It was designed to be flush mounted to the phone so it's easy to use when you're moving around. If you do need to keep the phone inside a case that prevent full access to the USB-C port, you can try a USB-C extender like the IOGEAR USB Type-C Male to Female Adapter - 1' (B&H #IOG2LU3CMF). Keep in mind that this is not how the receiver was intended to attach, so consider using hook-and-look fastener (velcro) to secure the UC receiver onto the back of your phone's case. But the best way to assure that the wireless mic system works properly and to avoid damage is to attach the receiver directly to the phone without an adapter, just as it was designed to be used.

Q: 9. Could you use this on a computer (headphone jack) for a zoom meeting? The presenter is at the front of the room and the computer at the back say 40 feet away.

A: You can use this on a computer only if it has a mic jack. A Headphone jack is only for headphones.

Q: 10. What external microphone would you recommend as a replacement for the included one? I’ve purchased one and it gives a ton of feedback.

A: RODE lavalier Go is a descent choice.

This is a great little microphone I use mounted on my eng style camera. It's shorter than most shotgun microphones so very low profile and could even work mounted on dslr cameras. The sound quality is excellent. Good for MOTS style interviews and event recording. Great directional microphone at a decent price.

I bought 2 of these as shotgun mics for a Sony x70 and z150. I just wanted some decent nat sounds. I ended up buying a 3rd for by Sony F5. There mics are excellent for nat sound and I wouldn't hesitate to use them for dialogue if I needed.

Best lightweight mic for small Panasonic GH4 rig. Using a Beachtek DXA-HDV XLR adapter that supplies phantom power. Sound is surprisingly loud and picks up everything with low noise - love it.

We use these mics in a performance studio to capture conversations between performances. We also use them in the field to capture natural sound. They are light and easy to carry.
