The Tiffen 4 x 6" 1 Twilight Graduated Filter (Vertical Orientation) helps to specifically add a unique deep magenta to pink gradient to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 1 color density provides less twilight coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 4 x 6" / 101.6 x 152.4mm.

Provides a unique deep reddish magenta to pink gradient across half of the filter plane.

Graduated filter design keeps a portion of the image neutral, resulting in a more realistic look while allowing for the sky or other bright areas to take on the color of the density.

A vertical orientation filter's line of transition runs parallel to the short side of the filter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Whats the benefits of this over the non digital version for half the price? I notice the coating and titanium ring but my question is more about image/color quality.

A: This filter uses optical quality glass, is uncoated and uses an aluminum filter ring. The Digital HT version uses Water White (highest quality) glass, is multi-coated and uses a titanium coated ring. The mulit-coating makes the glass more scratch resistant, easier to clean and less chance of reflections. The HT filters meet or exceed military specifications as well. The difference in image color/quality will be tough to see when comparing the two, the difference is more in construction quality.

Q: 2. How wide a lens can you use this on without vignetting? I have a Canon 16-35 f/4 - will the filter work with the lens set at 16mm (on full frame body)? Thanks.

A: You should be fine with this filter, if you were to go to a wider focal length there will be vignetting issues.

Q: 3. How deep is the interior of the camera compartment?

A: PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack (Twilight Black, 22L) is approximately 9" deep.

Q: 4. Will this fit a 16" Macbook?

A: Yes, the PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack will accommodate a 16inch macbook pro.

Q: 5. Will this fit a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Canon EF with room for more items?

A: Yes, the PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack (22L) can fit a Canon 5D Mark IV and Sigma 150-600mm Lens for Canon EF with room for more items.

Q: 6. I have a Polarizer filter , do I need a Graduated HD filter for high contrast photos?

A: The graduated HD filter is often used to mitigate bright sky against a darker landscape. I sometimes use it in other orientations to cut down bright areas of photo I am taking - imagine taking a photo of a dark building where the bright area has a vertical orientation on the left or right, or taking a photo through a door or similar portal. On the other hand, while a polarizer might provide some general overall brightness reduction, it is generally used to emphasize darker areas that are located at right angles to the light source (such as darkening sky against the clouds in a band 90 degrees from the sun), or to eliminate or reduce glare from reflected light - light reflected from smooth surfaces is highly polarized, light reflected from rough surfaces, such as the ocean, is rather scattered and the glare can be only minimally reduced by a polarizer. So the functions are different, and the graduated filter reduces the contrast (although I guess it could be used to exaggerate the contrast) whereas the polarizer is often used to enhance contrast.

Q: 7. Can you use this filter on top of a Circular Polarizer?

A: yes, you can. I always do

Q: 8. Is there a 1.2 ND model of this filter?

A: Tiffen does not have a four-stop (1.2) Digital HT Filter version of the Tiffen Graduated ND Digital HT Filter in 72mm. The only four-stop (1.2) 72mm circular graduated neutral density filter we carry from Tiffen would be the Tiffen 72mm Graduated Neutral Density Attenuator/Blender 1.2 Filter (4-Stop), B&H # TIABND1.272.

Q: 9. Will it fit underneath airplane seat? And Waist belt sew in the bag or removable?

A: The PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack (Twilight Black, 22L) has dimensions that add up less than 45" allowing it as carry on. Airplane seats vary widely but if it is carry on size, it should fit under the seat. The Waist belt is removable.

Q: 10. Does this filter have any tags or other properties that allow you to align the gradient axis precisely with the camera axis?

A: No, the Tiffen 72mm Graduated Neutral Density Attenuator/Blender 1.2 Filter (4-Stop) does not have tags or any markings indicating the gradient axis.

Received my tiffen Nd filter on time and used it that night on some sunset pics. Great improvement from just a plain polarized filter. Am heading to UP in Michigan in a couple weeks to give it a try on water falls. Can’t wait. Very satisfied. Thanks B&h. Jim

This is a great filter. Orignally, I was told that Tiffen filters were junk. Not True! This filter beats comparable B&W and Hoyas. Best of all it is MADE IN AMERICA!

After I received this filter I went out and shot a few hundred pictures to learn when and when not to use this filter. In a high contrast situation (for example, a sunny sky over an evergreen forest) this filter used correctly can improve the color and detail in your photos. The horizon must be near the center of the filter, which is a limitation you must remember. Tiffen HT filters are among the best filters you can buy, the equal of B&W Kaeseman and they are made in the USA, a plus in my book.

I bought this for my Quattro DP2, which prefers to run at ISO100 and can make some landscapes a little tricky. In the Pittsburgh, PA area you can often have some spectacular skies to add drama to your cityscapes, but can lose land detail if you stop down to avoid burning the sky.

A nice feature of this filter is that it rotates so you can get it into the position you need easily. For my own work, I didn't feel the need for the extra coating and digital-ready stuff, but spent the extra $10.00 USD or so for the rotating feature. What a polarizer can't quite do at times, this filter can,

Like all Tiffen filters, it's well-designed and manufactured, right here in the U.S. of A. and reasonably priced. Been using them for 40 years with no complaint!

This filter is so helpful. It has made landscape photo so much easier. You don't have to think about using HDR just to get land/Sea and sky balanced. The transition is smooth enough so you can have objects above the horizon line without it being too dark.
