Bundled with a furry windshield, a foam windscreen, and a vibration-reducing shockmount for clean audio with minimal extraneous noise, the BOYA BY-BM6060 shotgun microphone offers an affordable solution for videographers, indie filmmakers, and boom operators who need a flexible, full-size shotgun mic on a tight budget.

The supercardioid polar pattern delivers focused pickup in front of the mic and the switchable 150 Hz high-pass filter attenuates rumble and low-frequency handling noise. The mic's low-noise circuitry and wide 60 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response allow quality signal capture for speech, ambient sound, and sound effects. Wind noise can be effectively reduced using the supplied windshield and windscreen.

To ensure reliable operation with a variety of devices such as cameras, mixer adapters, and portable audio recorders, the BY-BM6060 microphone runs on a single AA battery or 12 to 48 VDC phantom power. It utilizes a balanced XLR output for straightforward connectivity.

Built with an aluminum-alloy housing, the BY-BM6060 offers ruggedness while remaining lightweight, a welcome combination for comfortable use on boompoles.

The BY-BM6060's supercardioid polar pattern delivers focused responsiveness in front of the mic, moderate rejection at the rear, and enhanced attenuation at the sides, making it well suited for recording subjects outdoors or in acoustically treated rooms.

The wide 60 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response of the microphone allows it to accurately capture speech, ambient sounds, and more. The switchable high-pass filter attenuates low frequencies below 150 Hz to help you control difficult bass issues such as rumble and traffic noise.

Able to be run on a single AA battery or 12 to 48 VDC phantom power, the BY-BM6060 can be used with DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, professional camcorders, field recorders, and handheld audio recorders. The XLR 3-pin output provides a balanced, high-quality connection point.

Use the included foam windscreen to control noise from light breezes or indoor turbulence from fans. Switch to the supplied furry windshield for enhanced wind noise reduction when recording outdoors.

The BY-BM6060 comes with a shockmount that decouples the mic from your camera, boompole, or stand, thereby inhibiting vibrations and handling noise.

Q: 1. Will this work on the new Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K?

A: Yes it does work all you need is this adapter in the link bellow https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1537929-REG/kondor_blue_kb_mxlr_16_mini_xlr_male_to.html

Q: 2. When do you expect to ship these?

A: The Rode NTG4+ is currently available and shipping.

Q: 3. How can this microphone claim so much greater directionality (down 14 dB at 60 degrees off-axis) than other shotgun microphones of similar physical length. Is it a typo?

A: The physical length alone does not determine directinality. It is the overal design and engineering that achieves this specification. Q: 4. There appear to be three settings for the high-pass filter: the switch can be positioned towards the front of the mic (bent line symbol), in the middle (straight line symbol), or towards the back of the mic (circle symbol). I gather the bent line represents "hi-pass filter on", the straight line "hi-pass filter off", but what does the circle setting do?

A: The circle setting turns the mic off.

Q: 5. Considering this microphone has an internal battery, it doesn't seem like it would need +48v phantom power. Therefore, would it work with the Sony XLR-K2M XLR Adapter Kit?

A: The NTG4 is able to be powered via internal battery or externally via phantom power from the source. This mic can be used with the Sony XLR-K2M in either manner.

Q: 6. Is this mic compatible with DSLR cameras? I have a Canon 5D mark III and am looking for on on-camera shotgun mic.

A: The NTG1 requires power in order to operate that is supplied by the device the mic is connected to. unfortunately this is not able to be supplied by the cameras mini jack output. For the 5D mkIII and similar cameras you will need an additional adapter that is able to provide the power to the mic such as a Beachtek DXA-SLR ULTRA, which will allow the connection of 2 mics, level control, metering and limiters to protect from overload. Alternatively a battery powered mic will also work directly connected. The NTG-2 would be an example.

Q: 7. is it includes these microphone wind shild

A: It actually comes with the foam windshield. It will the do the job inside, but it's not very effective outside. I recommend buying a separate windshield.

Q: 8. Would this mic work with my Sony adapter for my A7s? It has an xlr in??

A: The NTG4+ will work with an XLR adapter that is able to provide 48 volts phantom power to the mic.

Q: 9. Is PSC A4812 48V Phantom or Sennheiser 12TP48 going to work with Ntg4? I'm looking for something similar or smaller than a box shaped power supply. Thank you.

A: It looks like those should work fine with this unit.

Q: 10. Are there any audio quality differences between the NTG4+ and NTG?

A: Both are excellent

Great Mic - Does exactly what it says on the box. If you plan on using this outside, get a dead cat to go with it. The supplied foam shield does not work that great

I mainly use this mic for boom recording during film shoots. It gets the job done and doesn't chew through batteries like some of my other mics, plus it can still run on phantom if needed.

I purchased the NTG2 to plug into my Roland RO5 for a small boom kit for interviews.. Have had it for about a week and used it on two three interviews. Great sound low noise.. Once you hit the sweet spot it is amazing. The only thing thus far that I noticed that is slightly annoying is the RODE mic bag it comes with is a little tight with just the accesories that came with the mic. So with that, if you are going to buy this you might look into a carrying case. Phantom power ROCKS.

Using with a Panasonic HC-X900M camcorder and a Sony PCM-10 audio recorder, in situations where a lavaliere mic won't do. The NTG-2 is quiet, nicely directional, and lightweight. It can run off phantom power or use a single AA battery; the battery cover is permanently attached to the mic - nice touch.

Great for field work. My only concern is the durability of the mount and the 3.5mm end of the adaptor occasionally becomes jammed in my video camera, other than that, it is a very impressive beginners kit for anyone interested in getting quality sound for a reasonable price.

We took this microphone out to the middle of noisy Times Square shortly after purchasing it, and it did not disappoint. We recorded ENG-style interviews directly into a Panasonic HPX-170, and the sound was very clear. We used the microphone both mounted to the camera in a Pearstone DUSM-1 Universal Shock Mount and with someone simple holding it off camera. It worked well in both situations. We also had the interviewer wear a wireless lav, but in most cases we wound up using the shotgun audio for both him and the interviewees. Of note, I purchased this microphone in a kit that included the Pearstone DUSM-1 Universal Shock Mount and Kopul Premium Performance 3000 Series XLR M to Angled XLR F Microphone Cable - 1.5' after reading that the mount that comes with the microphone leaves something to be desired, and I haven't yet tried the mount that comes with the microphone. The kit is a very reasonable way to use this microphone effectively without the compounded expenses that add up when purchasing the accessories separately.

Works as well as a MKE 66. Buy it.

I use a Panasonic AG-HMC40. I had previously been using a rode SVM, and a Rode Videomic with the mini input. When my camera had to be replaced I got the XLR kit with the new one, and went with this mic, running phantom power. Wow. Man, I wish I had done this from the beginning. The sound is so much cleaner than running with the mini jack, and this is with the camera set up on a tripod, talent 3-4 foot away. Even with the noise removal plugin ( sony vegas ) to get rid of the central air noise, the sound is still great.
