The black I2 Bass and Cello Microphone Kit with 2.5mm Waterproof Locking Connector for Lectrosonics WM Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version features increased sensitivity for distance miking and captures detail for quieter instruments. Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the bass and cello mount, which sits securely behind the bridge with a positioning arm for placement. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a 2.5mm waterproof locking connector for direct connection to Lectrosonics WM wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very high rejection for sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the black rubberized body prone to degrading and getting sticky, as happens with the grey H6, the H4N, etc.?

A: No, the body is no longer rubberized. The material also was changed on the H4n Pro and H6 several months before they were discontinued.

Q: 2. how many headphone jacks does the zoom h6 have? I would like to use it for on-the-go interviews for a podcast but I need the hosts to be able to listen and monitor themselves with headphones

A: The Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule has 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output. With multiple listeners, a headphone splitter could be used. Conversely, a podcast-focused device such as the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder(BH #ZOPTP4PCREC) provides a similar amount of microphone inputs and four individual headphone output connections: https://bhpho.to/3GBmyj3

Q: 3. Is it possible to plug multiple lavalier mics ?

A: Yes, you can plug in up to 4 mics (lav or otherwise) as long as they connect through XLR or in.

Q: 4. Can the back-up recording be used for any inputs or does it have to be only for the L/R mix? and if only for the L/R mix, is there a way to set the L/R mix to be the other inputs?

A: The back-up recording is only for the L/R mix.

Q: 5. As it's a multitrack recorder, can the various tracks be exported and the levels changed on them separately after recording? Or is it a question of having to get the relative levels right at recording and then there is just one file after comprised of all tracks?

A: Each track is a separate Audio file, that are all the same length. In an audio program you can then sync them up instantly, and adjust levels (as well as add individual effects) for each track independently. It is still important to get a clean recording from all inputs (using the levels on the zoom device). But it is not imperative to have a perfect mix on the device, you get all the tracks as separate audio files

Q: 6. I want to record actors voices on set and on location with my Sennheisers with a recorder that can be mounted on the camera or on the tripod with the camera. Is the Zoom H6 appropriate to the job?

A: Yes, absolutely. The H6 has a built-in 1/4"-20 female mounting thread on the bottom which can be used to mount the recorder on a camera or to attach the H6 directly onto a tripod or stand by itself. For mounting the H6 to a camera, you can use a shoe mount adapter like the Revo Hot Shoe to 1/4"-20 Male Post Adapter (B&H # RESACS14M). If you are going to be using wireless microphones and also need to mount the wireless receivers on your camera, you can use a V-style shoe mount bracket like the Vello V-Rig 4.1" Triple Shoe Bracket (B&H #VECB415).

Q: 7. I am not sure if I got a defective Zoom h6. My device has this faint hissing noise even without any microphone plug in. if I set my gain to 6 and above and bump headphone volume to about 60 I can hear noises and I can also hear this noise in the record as well. Can someone confirm this with your device? - Thanks

A: Yeah this happens with mine as well. I haven't heard it too much in my recordings though. But if it makes you feel any better, I have noise when the gain is set to 6 or above too, even without a microphone plugged in.

Q: 8. What is the maximum allowable input level on the H6 stereo mini jack?

A: Unfortunately that spec is not provided on the H6 from Zoom but you can contact them directly by phone or email on the following page to look into these details with Zoom Audio directly. https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/contact/

Q: 9. Is there a way to monitor each individual channel through to headphone to check for distortion, etc?

A: You can monitor each track as it s being recorded.

Q: 10. Can I connect and use the Zoom H6 as an external mic on my Canon R5?

A: Yes, the headphone output connection of the Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder can be connected and feed signal to the 3.5mm microphone input connection on the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera using a cable such as the Whirlwind WHH4NL3.5 Line-to-Microphone Attenuator Cable for HDSLR Cameras (BH #WHH4NL3.5): https://bhpho.to/3ETHm7Y

This is my first digital recorder and I love it! I use this for recording violin concerts, choir concerts, and plays. Good sound quality. Good workmanship. Doesn't feel cheep. Controls are simple enough. Its a very versatile little machine.

Awesome product! The included mic capsules sound pretty good, although there seems to be just a tiny bit of low level noise when the inputs level gets turned way up, but fortunately it's unnoticeable at normal recording levels. Recordings are crystal clear, and the menus and features are well thought out and implemented. Lots of great features like backup recordings, corrupted file repair, timecode (although a slightly outdated format), basic limit/compress/filter effects, and visual feedback. It comes with some basic accessories and it all fits nicely into the hard case that comes with the package. Definitely among the top tier of handheld recorders!

This is a great little product. Portable, lightweight, easy to travel with, and the sound quality is excellent. We were looking for something to take in the field to have more control over recorded sound instead of relying just on the camera. This is it! Very happy with the product and B&H, who made the purchase very simple.

The Zoom H6 is a massive improvement over the H4n mainly in these areas: - Battery Life - Actual controls knobs - Modular connectors - Build quality seems better - 2 additional inputs - Screen readability - Much more including phantom power. - Cleaner preamps (less or no his when recording) A few things I would like to see improved they should add the AC adapter back to the H6 that was on the H4n this one only works with batteries. Also the screen can be hard to read due to the curved body on the h6. Other than that It would be great if the H6 had some smart phone connectivity so you can monitor and tweak your Zoom without touching it. Overall I would highly recommend the Zoom H6 for any video or audio professional (on a budget)

I use this product to shoot double system sound for video production. I'm about to use it for an indie feature. I find the audio quality to be excellent. It's very intuitive if you've ever used any kind of multi-track recorder. The menu system is bulky, but simple. I just wish it had jam-syncable time code. But what do you expect in a product of this price? I rate it 5 stars because it does what it's supposed to, and does it well.
