The black I2 Instrument Microphone, Standard Gain, with LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Zaxcom TRX900AA, TRX900LA, TRX900LT, TRX900LTH, TRX900LTHS, TRX900LTS, TRXFB3, TRXLA2, TRXLA3, TRXLT3, and ZMT3 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been engineered from the ground up for natural on- and off-axis frequency response, low-noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls. This tiny instrument microphone can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitars, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The I2 instrument microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version offers a standard gain and is suitable for close miking and loud instruments like horns. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, a basic clip, and a carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a LEMO 3-pin connector for direct connection to Zaxcom TRX900AA, TRX900LA, TRX900LT, TRX900LTH, TRX900LTHS, TRX900LTS, TRXFB3, TRXLA2, TRXLA3, TRXLT3, and ZMT3 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques can be aided by the various selection of instrument mounts (sold separately), which position securely and gently to strings, brass, and more.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning, and consistent patterns.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very high rejection for sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. WQhat do these units take for batteries?

A: The transmitter takes 12v / 23A type battery which should last for about 3 years depending on how often you use your device and also how long you keep it on every time. The receiver uses a 3v / CR2 type of battery and should be good for about 20,000 triggers and also on whether you use your device as a single shot, a 2 second delay, continuous, or bulb for long exposures. These batteries are available most everywhere, so carrying spares may not be a good idea because by the time the batteries in your units expire so will the spares that you bought (even if they weren't used). You'll find replacements at B&H of course but probably Walmart, Sears, or wherever batteries are sold.I go by date mostly and write down on a glued piece of tape on the device (one of them is enough) the date I bought the units and replace the batteries about a year before they're suppose to last to make sure. Happy shooting.

Q: 2. Will this work on a Canon 70d?

A: The Canon 70D doesn't have the 3-Pin Connections. For the 70D, you would need the Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release with the Sub-Mini Connection (B&H # VERWC1).

Q: 3. Does the wireless remote work with the Nikon D7000?

A: Sorry I cant help you. I bought it as a present.

Q: 4. Will it work with a SB-700 on camera? I'm planning on using it for a simple photobooth setup with on camera flash.

A: Yes, even though the receiver may be mounted on the flash shoe, it can be dangled off the side of the camera or tripod setup and work just fine. I've even heard of someone draping it over the lens while mounted on a tripod. It works well. This leaves the flash shoe open to mount any flash. The unit does not take any power from the flash shoe, it just may be convenient to mount there if you are not using the internal or external flash.

Q: 5. Would this work to focus a pentax k 3 or k 5 ii using an auto focus lens or would it only control the shutter?

A: Yes; you would press the shutter button on the Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release halfway to focus your lens when using an autofocus lens on the cameras listed above.

Q: 6. Does this have to be put in the hotshoe? Or can it just dangle so that I can use the hotshoe for my flash radio?

A: NO IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PUT IN THE HOTSHOE TO WORK PROPERLY.

Q: 7. How many shots does it take in continuous mode before it stops?

A: The number of shots that could be taken in burst mode depends on the camera, not the Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release Kit for Select Sony Cameras.

Q: 8. Does it allow mirror up first mode?

A: The camera would need to be set to mirror up first.

Q: 9. Will the transmitter in this work with the Vello Fusion Basic Receiver (for off-camera flash)? Product page is a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1019809-REG/vello_fwb_r_freewave_fusion_basic_receiver.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1019809-REG/vello_fwb_r_freewave_fusion_basic_receiver.html/a

A: No, they are not compatible.

Q: 10. Does this come with everything for my Nikon d800? Or do I need more cords?

A: Yes; the Vello FreeWave Remote Shutter Release Kit for Select Nikon & Fuji Cameras includes the 10-pin remote cable (listed as the Vello FreeWave Camera Release Cable for Select Nikon Cameras under the In The Box tab on our website) with its purchase, and as indicated under the Compatibility list under the Overview, it would be compatible for use with the Nikon D800 DSLR camera (and all other Nikon cameras which use the 10-pin remote terminal). No additional items need to be purchased for its usage.
