Update your cinema lens set with this 35mm T1.5 VDSLR MK2 Cine Lens from Samyang that comes in a Canon EF mount. The VDSLR MK2 continues the line with the same multilayer coating process, industry-standard geared focus and iris rings, and fast T1.5 aperture, and it adds a 9-blade iris for beautiful soft bokeh, weather sealing to keep the moisture out, and focal lengths on both sides for added versatility for focus pullers.

This 35mm lens produces a 63.1° coverage when used with full-frame cameras. Aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations, with a minimum focus distance of just under 1' from the lens. The 9-blade iris also allows you to create up to a stunning 18-ray starburst when you're stopped all the way down.

A removable petal-shaped lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box, and the lens' threaded front accepts a 77mm filter ring.

As well as delivering the beloved image quality and fast T-stop values of the existing VDSLR series, the VDSLR MK2 models now have weather sealing, nine aperture blades, and focal lengths that are visible on both sides for more professional use.

The VDSLR MK2 range is highly versatile and available in Canon EF, Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon F, Canon M, Fuji X, and MFT mounts.

Ultra Multi-Coated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.

Each lens in the Samyang VDSLRII MK2 cine lens series share common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be repositioned.

Focal lengths and measurements in feet and meters on both sides of the lens.

De-clicked aperture ring for smooth iris pulls.

A minimum focusing distance of just under 1' allows you to get up close to your subject.

A removable petal-type lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. There seems to be a version2 of the same lens out there. What's the difference?

A: The version Samyang 24mm T1.5 VDSLRII Cine Lens for Canon EF Mount B&H # SA24T15C lists improved optics and coatings over the Samyang 24mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF-Mount B&H # SA2415C.

Q: 2. What is the difference with the Rokinon 35mm 1.5 Cine DS lens?

A: The Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII Cine Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount and the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens are both made by Samyang and are identical.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this one and Rokinon 50? Because the price is 150 off

A: Both this Samyang lens and the Rokinon 50mm T1.5 (B&H # RO5015TC) are made by Samyang Optics in Korea and are both the same exact lens. Rokinon is a private distributor of Samyang here in the US Market. Going with the lesser priced Samyang lens is a great choice.

Q: 4. Will this lens fit and work with my Nikon D5200 ?

A: Yes it will. It is a full crame lens. It will work as 50mm on fx bodies and as 75mm on dx bodies such as d5200. Note that the version t1.5 is a cinematography lens. If you need it for photography you should get f1.2 version.

Q: 5. If I purchased this lense for my Sony A7S, what would be the main difference between it (Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII) and the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine AS UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount? I know that the differences are very, VERY subtle. I'm using it for professional film-making and I'm using an adapter.

A: Samyang is the company that makes Samyang, Rokinon and some Bower lenses. Of all these lenses, the Rokinon DS lenses, with their Dual Side focus markings and stricter coating color matching, are considered the top of the line. All the other lenses they make are below that and are the same quality since they they are all made by the same designs, materials and people. So in this case, we are of the opinion the Rokinon and Samyang 85mm have the same optical, mechanical, and build quality and the final question comes down to the brand name. Here Rokinon has the bigger reputation and you pay a little more for it. That has the added advantage that it will help when it comes to sell it.

Q: 6. What is the weather-proofing on this lens? Can this be used in rainy conditions?

A: It is nowhere as well weather proofed as the Canon L lenses for example. It is very well built, but I would avoid getting it wet if possible. At least, I wouldn't be game to get mine wet if I can avoid it.A few drops shouldn't be a problem though.

Q: 7. I have a Nikon D7200 which has autofocus on the camera. When shooting video, I use the autofocus to focus before the shot and then turn it off to video. Will the camera's autofocus work with this lense?

A: no this is NOT an Autofocus lens

Q: 8. What is the different with Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF?

A: With professional gear the difference is often subtle and the necessity of a feature vs its cost is not readily apparent. But once on set, you want to work as effortlessly as possible and cost becomes less relevant and features more so.What you are getting with Samyangs VDSLRII line of lenses is their top quality consumer grade cine lenses. This means they have the all-important matched color/sharpness required for simplified post production color grading. The other plus is having the gear rings in the same place so that when you swap lenses, the follow focus and the aperture control systems do not have to be adjusted back and forth on the 15mm rods. This saves time and effort on set. If you compare the two lenses in the photos, you will see that the focus gear is more to the rear on the Samyang 35mm T1.5 VDSLRII. Of course, whether or not the $180 extra is worth it for this feature is entirely up to you.

Q: 9. Will this lens utilize the Sony a6300's autofocus? If not, what's the smallest (literally smallest) lens that will?

A: This is a manual focus lens. If you need a 20-ish-mm lens that's very small, the Sony E-mount 20mm f/2.8 (https://bhpho.to/3eHdw9V) or the Sony 24mm f/1.8 (https://bhpho.to/2OrTHsv) are great choices.

Q: 10. What is different from AS UMC and DS Lens?

A: The lenses that are marked DS have the aperture and focus scales marked on both sides of the lens. DS stands for dual sided. With the models that are not DS the markings are only on one side of the lens.
