It's like having a giant window to stand next to your subject anywhere you go. I giggle every time I open it up because of just how large it is.

Do recommend if you need something that packs away. I paired it with the diffuser for max soft light. Used with an Ad200 flash. Photos needed practically zero editing.

I just finished a job I shot with this umbrella, and it worked great for what I had in mind when purchasing it. The shoot was a three person family portrait outside. The light, despite having to be fairly far from the subjects for the image to include enough of the beautiful outdoor environment surrounding the family, lit the family with a beautiful, very soft shaft of light quite reminiscent of end-of-daylight hero lighting.


Of course, there are limitations to using this umbrella; you cannot use it outdoors when there are windy conditions, as the sail-like qualities of the umbrella will be compounded by its size, and the relative fragility of its strut support system. And its overall size - the reason for its performance - may make it difficult to use in many smaller indoor spaces. Its construction is very good for its price range, and its shape, size, and materials are all very good at creating a beautiful ight source.


I can't say how long this umbrella will last because of the strain put on the materials used to form a rather heavy umbrella, but this is, on the other hand, a hugely lighter option than almost all softboxes yielding similar square inches of reflective material, especially so against those that use the umbrella type mechanisms to open, as opposed to the older boxes using the adapter plate and flexible rod approach.


So, for the price, this umbrella is just a wonderful light shaping tool.

I have three of these. Not an issue so far. Works how they are supposed to.

I have been using the Westcott parabolic's for years and recently replaced one with this model. I would say that the build quality is equal and at a much better price point. I would suggest getting the diffuser fabric for the front of the umbrella as well, and you'll have a great big soft light!

After setting up my 7' soft box (which is slow and unwieldy), I was surprised at how manageable this umbrella was! And the price is unbeatable! Impact makes some impressive affordable stuff!

This is one of the best purchases I have made in my photo career. It sets up in seconds. The build quality far exceeds my expectations. The light with the diffuser is sweet.
