Tiffen 5 X 6" 3 Twilight Graduated Filter (vertical Orientation)

The Tiffen 5 x 6" 3 Twilight Graduated Filter (Vertical Orientation) helps to specifically add a unique deep magenta to pink gradient to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 3 color density provides more twilight coloration than the 2 density filter.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 5 x 6" / 127 x 152.4mm.

Provides a unique deep reddish magenta to pink gradient across half of the filter plane.
Graduated filter design keeps a portion of the image neutral, resulting in a more realistic look while allowing for the sky or other bright areas to take on the color of the density.
A vertical orientation filter's line of transition runs parallel to the short side of the filter.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Whats the benefits of this over the non digital version for half the price? I notice the coating and titanium ring but my question is more about image/color quality.
A: This filter uses optical quality glass, is uncoated and uses an aluminum filter ring. The Digital HT version uses Water White (highest quality) glass, is multi-coated and uses a titanium coated ring. The mulit-coating makes the glass more scratch resistant, easier to clean and less chance of reflections. The HT filters meet or exceed military specifications as well. The difference in image color/quality will be tough to see when comparing the two, the difference is more in construction quality.
Q: 2. Are the slow motion controls continuous, or do they have limited travel?
A: The Explore Scientific Twilight I Alt-Azimuth Mount with Tripod do not have a limit until they reach the end points which is quite far. However, since you would be using your wrists to turn the controls your wrists will reach a limit long before the Twilight 1 does.
Q: 3. Will it fit Nikon 850 with Sigma 60 600mm lens attached, 16 -35 mm, Nikon z7 ii with 105mm lens and Nikon SB flash 900 ?
A: The PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack (Twilight Black, 22L) is too small for the Nikon 850 with Sigma 60 600mm lens attached, 16 -35 mm, Nikon z7 ii with 105mm lens attached and Nikon SB-900 flash.
Q: 4. will a nikon z6II with 24-120mm and 180-600mm fit with 2 extra batteries?
A: Yes, the PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack can fit the Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR and the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S Lens with 2 batteries
Q: 5. what are the internal dimensions? Will a Peak Design Tripod fit INSIDE?
A: The internal dimensions of the PGYTECH OneMo Lite Backpack (Twilight Black, 22L) are 15.5 x 13 x 5". We did test the Peak Design Travel Tripod (which folds down to 15.4") and it will fit inside the backpack.
Q: 6. Does this mount come fully assembled out of the box...?? If not, what needs to be put together...??
A: The kit comes almost fully assembled. All you need to do is attach the T-rod and screw the head into the tripod.
Q: 7. Can you use this filter on top of a Circular Polarizer?
A: yes, you can. I always do
Q: 8. The slow motion cables are in the way of the locking levers! Any suggestion to fix that problem? Other, shorter and compatible lever locks?
A: I do not show any other motion cables available for this unit. You may want to contact Explore Scientific Tel: (866)252.3811 Website http://explorescientificusa.com/
Q: 9. Can a step motor be added to this mount to motorize it...???
A: None can be added to this mount.
Q: 10. I have a Polarizer filter , do I need a Graduated HD filter for high contrast photos?
A: The graduated HD filter is often used to mitigate bright sky against a darker landscape. I sometimes use it in other orientations to cut down bright areas of photo I am taking - imagine taking a photo of a dark building where the bright area has a vertical orientation on the left or right, or taking a photo through a door or similar portal. On the other hand, while a polarizer might provide some general overall brightness reduction, it is generally used to emphasize darker areas that are located at right angles to the light source (such as darkening sky against the clouds in a band 90 degrees from the sun), or to eliminate or reduce glare from reflected light - light reflected from smooth surfaces is highly polarized, light reflected from rough surfaces, such as the ocean, is rather scattered and the glare can be only minimally reduced by a polarizer. So the functions are different, and the graduated filter reduces the contrast (although I guess it could be used to exaggerate the contrast) whereas the polarizer is often used to enhance contrast.
