The black I2 Bass and Cello Microphone Kit with 2.5mm Waterproof Locking Connector for Lectrosonics WM Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version features increased sensitivity for distance miking and captures detail for quieter instruments. Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the bass and cello mount, which sits securely behind the bridge with a positioning arm for placement. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a 2.5mm waterproof locking connector for direct connection to Lectrosonics WM wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.

The cardioid polar pattern is effective for picking up sound directly in front of the microphone and is less sensitive to sound directly behind the microphone. It picks up about 1/3 less ambient noise than the omnidirectional polar pattern, so the working distance (the distance a performer could be positioned from the microphone) is approximately 1.7 times that of the omni. The cardioid pattern works best when you can position the microphone directly towards the sound you wish to record (a lead singer, for example) and directly away from unwanted sound sources like a crowd or a loud monitor).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this record 32 bit Float???

A: No. The Zoom H6 Portable Handy Recorder can capture audio at 24-bit / 96 kHz. It cannot record 32-bit float.

Q: 2. Can each channel be panned L/R via menus? If so, will all L and all R be mixed into the "backup stereo mix"?

A: The Zoom H6 Recorder does offer panning controls via the program mixer, which will apply to the stereo mixdown and monitor mix.

Q: 3. Is the 3.5 input stereo or mono? If it's stereo, will it record both signals on separate tracks?

A: The 3.5mm TRS input on the Zoom H6 Portable Handy Recorder is a stereo connector that will record mic or line level audio, separated on the left and right channels.

Q: 4. I want to transfer 4 discrete tracks from my Tascam 3340s without mixing into stereo. Will the H6 record four tracks simultaneously? I know many other recorders can only record two tracks, then another two.

A: Hi, Ed S. The ZOOM H6 can record 4 audio tracks simultaneously. Just run each of your 4 tracks separately out of your 3340s and separately into each track of the ZOOM H6. Don't forget to read the owners manual to set the quality of your new recording. The ZOOM H6 is an excellent product that will actually allow you to record 6 separate channels simultaneously (with an additional module). I hope my answer helps you. Thanks.

Q: 5. Why does the black one cost more if it comes with less capsules than the original, are there any other differences?

A: The rubberized black body of the recorder is it's main difference. This allows for a more rugged build and functions better in harsh environments.

Q: 6. Would this be an appropriate audio interface to hook up 2 XLR mics for recording instrument/piano to a dSLR/mirrorless camera via TRS 3.5 mm minijack? If so, with its own XY mic, can it be used as a 3 mic input? Knowing camera TRS mic input is only 2 channel stereo, would a 3rd mic be useless then? Sorry for the novice question.

A: This is a 6 channel recorder, Four XLR inputs plus the onboard stereo mic. You can connect the output to your camera and record the entire stereo mix to the camera, although you should still use the audio from the Zoom in your final cut.

Q: 7. Can it record internally and output audio to a PC through the USB output?

A: Yes. Just to make sure I'm understanding the question correctly: I almost daily use this device to record professional voiceovers, using both the attached condenser mic and xlr attached sennheiser, while running it feed out directly via USB to my Mac and capture using Abobe Audition in real time. It even runs on phantom power via the USB without you having to prompt it to so you don't kill the batteries as fast as when using it standalone. [Not sure how well phantom power to external mics work and if the USB will cover those, I only have self-powered external mics]. I remember to write almost no user reviews or answer questions but in this case I had to because I cannot recommend this device enough. For under 500 the H6 captures network quality sound both ambient and input and at a price point that you're willing to use it for every type of field grunt work.

Q: 8. Does the Zoom H6 accept Sony XQD cards?

A: No, the Zoom H6 Portable Recorder will not accept Sony XQD Memory Cards. The H6 will work with the following card types and sizes: SD (16 MB to 2 GB) SDHC (4 to 32 GB) SDXC (64 to 128 GB)

Q: 9. How do you choose the format for recording, either wave or mp3

A: It depends on what you are doing. WAV is a lossless, uncompressed, file, and so that would be the higher quality option. An MP3 is compressed, so it takes up much less space. Unless you're worried about space on the card, I would advise recording everything as WAV, you can always convert it later if you need MP3.

Q: 10. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx

A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

I use this primarily for corporate and documentary films as well as ambience and effects sound recording. Used the Zoom H4n earlier. The H6 just makes it better with improved mic-pre's and increased functionality - more separate tracks, interchangeable mics for better location effects/ambience recordings. Battery life is really good unlike the H4n. Best part is if you wish to use it as a recorder only you can disconnect the mic module and safely pack it in its case. No worries about damaging it accidentally. People used to the Zoom H4n will need to remember that when you hit record button it starts recording immediately and does not go to 'Record- pause' mode. This is an useful feature improvement. For budget shoots you might be able to do away with a audio mixer and record directly with H6.

I use the H6 on top on my 7D for video, it's perfect for multiple wireless mics and phantom power is awesome. Color screen is great, easy to see and adjust levels. I record to the sd card in the H6 and use the Sescom 3.5 mm Line to Mic -25 dB Audio Cable for Zoom H6 to record to the 7D at the same time. Fair price and really easy to use.

A very professional Handy audio recorder which I use for professional outdoor/indoor video production work. The addition of the optional Shotgun Mic capsule is great which includes a fairly decent windscreen. I dropped my H6 and shotgun mic while recording a scene as I rode up an escallator, the H6 1/4-20 hot shoe adapter fell off my video camera and dropped the H6 about 40ft several floors below (through a small opening all the way down). The mic capsule, battery cover, and batteries exploded off the H6. Upon inspection the H6 still powered on (once putting everything back together) but no longer worked. Good news! Zoom support has a direct replacement option where I returned the damaged H6 body and they sent me a replacement right away for a reasonable fee. I am very happy with their support, due to my blunder. The Shotgun mic capsule continues to work flawlessly even after the long 40ft drop. Will buy again and again. Likely one more to keep on hand as my backup recorder.

Qualidade geral do produto excelente.

I have to say - this this is beyond my expectations. I had my sennheiser zoom attached as my main sound source and also use the supplied directional mic. And the shocking part was how amazing the supped mic was!! This thing is pretty amazing and I have bely scratched the surface.
