The black I2 Instrument Microphone, Standard Gain, with 6-Pin Hirose Connector for Samson BT3, CT2, TX4, and UT4 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a mic that has been engineered from the ground up for natural on- and off-axis frequency response, low-noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls. This tiny instrument microphone can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitars, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The I2 instrument microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version offers a standard gain and is suitable for close miking and loud instruments like horns. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, a basic clip, and a carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a 6-pin Hirose connector for direct connection to Samson BT3, CT2, TX4, and UT4 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques can be aided by the various selection of instrument mounts (sold separately), which position securely and gently to strings, brass, and more.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning, and consistent patterns.

The cardioid polar pattern is effective for picking up sound directly in front of the microphone and is less sensitive to sound directly behind the microphone. It picks up about 1/3 less ambient noise than the omnidirectional polar pattern, so the working distance (the distance a performer could be positioned from the microphone) is approximately 1.7 times that of the omni. The cardioid pattern works best when you can position the microphone directly towards the sound you wish to record (a lead singer, for example) and directly away from unwanted sound sources like a crowd or a loud monitor).

Q: 2. Ive had the wireless remote for awhile, yet never tried to use it until recently. The red power button does seem to come on while holding the power/set button. Any answers?

A: They can go bad with age. I just checked my instruction manual that came with mine and it indicates that you may have to hold the power button down for 3 seconds. The instructions state press and hold until the red Led comes on 3 seconds .

Q: 3. If camera (D810) is set to bracket exposures, will using remote follow the settings with multiple presses?

Q: 7. Will it work with a SB-700 on camera? I'm planning on using it for a simple photobooth setup with on camera flash.

A: Yes, even though the receiver may be mounted on the flash shoe, it can be dangled off the side of the camera or tripod setup and work just fine. I've even heard of someone draping it over the lens while mounted on a tripod. It works well. This leaves the flash shoe open to mount any flash. The unit does not take any power from the flash shoe, it just may be convenient to mount there if you are not using the internal or external flash.

Q: 8. Will this remote work with the SLT A65?

A: Yes this remote will also work with the SLT A65.

Q: 9. What if I want to use flash at the same time?

A: You would need to use a straight flash bracket and put the receiver off the hot shoe. Vello makes one that will work. http://bhpho.to/19fUS2x
