Mixing advanced optics and sophisticated handling, the Sony E-mount MF 14mm f/2.8 WS Mk2 Lens from Samyang is an ultra-wide-angle prime that is especially well-suited to astrophotography, architecture, and landscape shooting applications. Featuring a 14 elements, 10 groups optical design, this lens utilizes a series of aspherical, low dispersion, and high refractive index elements to reduce color fringing, aberrations, and distortions for sharp, clear, and color accurate imagery. An Ultra Multi-Coating is also featured, as well as a built-in petal-shaped lens hood to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in bright, direct lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging assets, manual focus operation, with an internal focusing design, is employed and permits working with subjects as close as 11" away, and the metal housing is weather-sealed to permit working in inclement conditions. Additionally, a focus lock ring permits securing the focusing position to prevent accidental changes, and the aperture ring can also be de-clicked to better suit video applications.

Wide-angle prime lens is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 21mm equivalent focal length.

Complex 14 elements, 10 groups optical design includes one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and three high refractive index elements, which all combine to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations and color fringing, as well as improve sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for increased contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.

Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 11" away and an internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during operation.

Built-in petal-shaped lens hood blocks stray light from reaching the front element and also offers some physical protection against light impacts.

Weather-sealed design suits working in inclement weather conditions.

Focus lock ring permits fixing the focusing position to prevent accidental changes, which benefits astrophotography and other long-exposure, interval-based, or other long term stationary forms of shooting.

The aperture ring de-click function allows the aperture ring not to be stopped at every f-stop in the way cine lenses do. This selectable function will allow brightness to be adjusted continuously and smoothly with much more details between stops.

Q: 4. What’s the difference between this and the Rokinon version?

A: They are pretty much the same lens, Rokinon and Samyang are basically the same company. Rokinon is mfr'd for the USA market and Samyang is for the overseas market. Optics and build quality are the same.

Q: 5. What Nd filters for this lense

A: This lens is not front threaded and so will not directly accept filters. One needs a filter holder designed specifically for this lens to attach filters on here. These would use 150mm filters. One option for a holder is the NiSi 150mm Q Filter Holder for Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 FE Lens for Sony E-Mount linked here. https://bhpho.to/2SvTfv0. This says for Sony, but it is also for the Canon RF mount lens. Which specific ND filters to get will depend on the specific photographic application.

Q: 6. does this lens correctly use the Nikon Z camera's in-focus indicator as well as trigger and accurately function with the Focus Peaking feature?

A: The Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 Lens for Nikon Z is manual focus but it is compatible with the manual focusing assist features (such as focus peaking) in the Nikon Z cameras.

Q: 7. With EOS RP, will recording video in 1080p HD cause a crop? I don't want to be forced to use 4K FHD

A: When shooting 1080p HD video on the Canon EOS RP Mirrorless Digital Camera, the camera will use the full width of the sensor with no cropping factor. When shooting 4K UHD video, the camera will use the center of the sensor and would have a 1.7x crop factor.

Q: 8. hummm, I've been looking for 85mm lens. This is good and affordable lens for me. But i have a Sigma FP and MC-21 adopter. Is it working with FP?
