turn on the cam, use fully automatic mode and be happy, great camera.
take the CD, print out the 209 pages PDF Manual, study it, and i mean study it, you will not believe what you can do with this small cam, unbelieveble!
the optical zoom is great and even the 300x digital zoom is very very good and sharp.
one of my favorite features is the additional antishake button you can press, it freezes your video without shake, like magic!

I am simply dumbfounded at the value I got from buying this camcorder. This is my first camcorder since the tape days, and I'm amazed at what this camera can do in such a small package. I needed a camera that can be used at a Prosumer level. Manual exposure. Manual Focus. External Microphone. You got all this along with wonderful auto modes so you can just turn it on and shoot while having the option to do more cinematic/film shooting. As many have mentioned, the low light performance is poor, and the on camera mic has a lot to be desired. However, those points I believe apply to most cameras. It took me a little while to get used to the touch screen interface, however, now I can navigate and select painlessly. So for me, it was just a learning curve as opposed to something worth penalizing for. I have not used the photo/still image features at all so I can't comment on them. I plan on purchasing at least another one of these cameras to use as a 2nd/3rd camera for my short films.

So far i havent found any flaws for this camera (Knock on wood) its stunning quality, its small, easy to use, focus ability is amazing, and its ability to attach lenses and mics, is awesome. I use it for skateboarding, it mounts to a nice curved handle or tripod, can attach a fishey, and is just great. nothing but love!

Small and handy. Apart from dual cards seems superior to the newer M400!

I use this at home to capture special moments with my toddler. I also take it to school (occasionally) to film my kindergardners working on a special project. The image is great quality and the microphone can be upgraded if needed but we are not having any problems with it. All in all, definately worth the money. :)

Use this for work filming of conference material and meetings.Size and ease of operation are great. Touch screen is easy to operate (maybe a tad slow as others pointed out, which gave me pause when I read others review, but for me it is perfectly fine).It has been awhile since I owned a camcorder, and a couple years since I used one, and the advances in technology are incredible. This is a great cam at an incredible price!

I was looking for a camera that had a LANC jack, but they were all too expensive. Then I found that even though this camera spec sheet doesn't mention LANC, there is an accessory that plugs into the top and has a LANC jack! This one has external mic and headphone jacks - something that is hard to find in the consumer price range. Add an external XLR 2 input tripod mount mic mixer for phantom power to shotgun mic and wireless lavaliere mic, a viewfinder eyepiece for the display and it can work for ENG. This model didn't have any internal memory, but my workflow doesn't require it. SDHC cards are safer. +/- + 37mm filter ring for wide angle lens adapter + good for point & shoot once it is setup - no manual focus - must use touchscreen - very short battery life with supplied battery - lots of complicated internal effects stuff
