Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will these work with a UAP AC? Also do i need one UAP AC on each end one to receive the signal and one to send?
A: This would be a mesh access point. The number of units would be heavily dependent on the use case scenario.
Q: 2. Since this has POE+DATA out, can you connect a CloudKey2 to this device? It appears so by the specification.
A: It's recommended to use the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 Plus with a network switch rather than directly with an access point like this Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-IW-US UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System.
Q: 3. I have a Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO UniFi Access Point. Aside from its form factor and its ability to be used outdoors, how is this different?
A: The UAP-AC-Pro has two Ethernet ports versus the one on the Mesh AP. Also: - 3 antennas vs 2 - 22 dBm vs 20 dBm transmit power - 1750 Mb/s Total (2.4 GHz: 450 Mb/s and 5 GHz: 1300 Mb/s) vs 1167 Mb/s Total (2.4 GHz: 300 Mb/s and 5 GHz: 867 Mb/s) throughput
Q: 4. I live with access to a guest wifi from business below the signal is pretty good but localized. Is this a help or something else from Ubiqiti....?
A: Yes the UAP-AC-M-US will extend a Wi-Fi area. It must be wired to the router. Preferably a Ubiquiti router or switch.
Q: 5. Can this Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Indoor/Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point be used to extend the wireless capabilities of my Xfinity modem/router to get better coverage on the same network?
A: You can have the same wifi name with the Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Indoor/Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point. Keep in mind that it might be necessary to adjust the settings for better performance.
Q: 6. what is the power source?
A: 11.30.16Thanks for asking. This is not a lamp you can use for any general purpose lighting. It is plugged in to the rear of one of our commercial lighting control consoles. The lamp is powered from the console connector, and there is a variable potentiometer on the front of the console to control the brightness. It might also be able to be used on a Yamaha CL5 or LS9-32 audio console.
Q: 7. Can it be used as access point in a 3 floor building?
A: That would not be a practical use of this device as it is intended for use for long-distance, wireless broadband bridging. Please check our offerings at Computers Networking Wireless Networking Wireless Access Points.
Q: 8. How many users can use this device simultaneously?
A: In theory, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi nanoHD 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wave-2 Access Point BH #UBUAPNANOHD can support up to 200+ clients.
Q: 9. I have 3 UAP AC PRO's, but they are not getting enough signal from the main uplink. Can I use a UAP-AC-M-US as a middle hop for these? Ie. I am not clear if I can use a mesh + uplink type of setup. Thanks
A: You can use that M device with the pro account Uaps. Im assuming you link them via 802.11. I'd run one of the ac pro as a first hop. Put the M device in the middle somewhere. The system works best with the unifi gateway device and switch. A very robust system. It works very well.
Q: 10. looking for 2 non wired extenders for my hardwired AC-Pro , will these do?
A: This will need to be at least plugged in for power. It is meant to extent the existing WiFi signal further in AP mode and repeat the signal with other UAP devices.
