A: In theory it will work on any camera that has a hot shoe on which to mount it, and a built-in pop up flash, as long as the booster does not physically interfere with the flash popping up. I have not used it on t1i but judging from pictures of that camera I think the answer is yes. The t1i's built-in pop up appears to be very similar to the one on my 70d on which it works very well. With any camera you will need to learn from experience which distance (from camera to subject) gives the best results with each of the various adapters.

A: Sorry it took so long, I could not get this portion to open. Also sorry, I don't own a D5300 and I have never even tried to use this on my D3200. I do have a slight problem getting it on a few of my other camera, the bracket that slides into the flash adaptor doesn't fit, and too, the flash is too big to fit in this devices opening. I've only used it a few times and it does project the flash further than the onboard flash. Tom G
