Q: 1. can the sdi/hdmi multiview outputs display progressive frames in 1920x1080 or only interlaced? it looks like it can do progressive in 4k but not in 1080 based on the dip switches unless im misinterpreting them.
A: the Blackmagic Design MultiView 4 can do progressive outputs
Q: 2. The features overview says "Tally support with ATEM switchers via optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel". Is this correct? It would seem bizarre that you'd need an optional front panel for this. I'd assume that, with the multi viewer and switcher on the same network, you'd use the BMD software to configure tally, yes?
A: You can configure the tally setting using the optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel or when connecting the Multiview 4 over USB to a computer running the Multiview Setup software.
Q: 3. Is it possible for the MultiView 4 to send both main HD-SDI and HDMI Multi output to two different destinations simultaneously?
A: yes...it outputs on both the HDMI and SDI but it is the same output. we have ours going directly to a TV via HDMI and the SDI to the router.
Q: 4. Do you have to supply your own USB-C to USB-C cable and rosette to pan arm adapter?
A: Blackmagic Design has confirmed that the Blackmagic Design Focus Demand and Zoom Demand, both come supplied with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Q: 5. Will this work with any MFT lens? or is there a list of MFT lenses that are compatible
A: Yes. It will work with any MFT lens with electronic focus through the mount.
Q: 6. Can you solo any input just by using the Teranex control panel? Without having a PC connected?
A: Yes, you will be able to solo an input by using the Teranex Mini Smart Panel.
Q: 7. How are non-standard resolutions handled by the inputs, ex) 4:1 (3840 x 960) intended for an LED screen?
A: On the Blackmagic Design MultiView 4, non-standard resolutions are not supported and will be displayed black.
Q: 8. Can two be used in a PC for greater performance?
A: The Blackmagic Design Fairlight PCIe Audio Accelerator maximizes the performance capabilities of Fairlight and does not require a redundant card for added benefit. This card could be paired with the Blackmagic Design Fairlight PCIe Audio MADI Upgrade (BH #BLFPCIEAMU) for expanded MADI I/O connectivity if required: https://bhpho.to/3tpheLO
Q: 9. We have an ATEM Video Switcher and (3) PTZOptics SDI Cameras. I'd like to use this to route Cam1-3 to a Video Waveform Monitor for shot-setup, each time our team previews Cam1-3. Could I get this to happen automatically with this? Using only ethernet data between the the two devices?
A: The Blackmagic Design MultiView 4 (B&H# BLMV4) will essentially just turn up to four inputs into a single signal, showing each in one quadrant of a TV (or production monitor) screen. If that signal is sent to a typical waveform monitor then that waveform monitor would give you a waveform for the combined group of four feeds, not four separate waveforms unless yours allows you to specify a separate area of the frame for each such waveform. The MultiView 4 will accept those four video feeds from the SDI (up to 6G) connections, not from the LAN (sometimes called "Ethernet") connection. That is because the LAN port on the MultiView 4 is for control, not for video input nor output.
Q: 10. What computer specs are needed to use this card?I know in the past Blackmagic Ultrascope only worked with a particular computer type.
A: According to Blackmagic Design: Physical Installation: PCI Express 1 lane, compatible with 1, 4, 8, 16 lane PCI Express slots. Please see the full system requirements for Windows and Mac OS X.Operating SystemsMac: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks or Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.Windows: Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
