These brown SHELL Mittens in size 7 from The Heat Company keep your vulnerable hands and fingers warm and protected from the elements.

Made from windproof and highly water-resistant material, the mittens have goatskin leather palms that are not only tough and wear resistant, but provide a secure and slip-resistant grip. Each mitten is lined with warm and comfortable Primaloft Gold insulation. When you need to use your fingers to operate a camera, access your phone, check your stats on a sport watch, or perform any one of a thousand tasks, simply fold back the finger and thumb flaps to expose your digits. A magnetic clasp keeps the flap out of your way, so it won't interfere with what you're doing. For added protection without sacrificing dexterity, layer the mittens over a pair of optional liners.

An adjustable cinch at the wrist has straps that allow you to remove the mitten from your hand without having to put it down where it can get filled with snow or lost. Slip a disposable hand warmer into the small, zippered pocket on the back of the hand, or use it to stow small accessories like credit cards or your ID.

The size 7 mitten fits 6.3-6.9" hands, measured around the palm of your dominant hand just below the knuckles. The Heat Company recommends sizing up if you are in between sizes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used with the base plate that works with the BH-55 head? I am considering the BH-30 to use on a travel tripod.

A: Yes the same base plate will work for both!

Q: 2. The product photos all show a bubble level, but the specs say bubble levels none. If I order this, will it have a bubble level or not?

A: The full size lever release clamp will feature a bubble-level while the compact lever release clamp does not.

Q: 3. I am new to tripods and ballheads. With the BH-40 do I need to purchase a quick release plate? Will RRS BA72 plate fit on BH-40?I'm kind of bummed out that there is no info on this website about compatible plates.

A: It doesn't come with a quick-release plate. Under the related accessories, the Really Right Stuff B-9 plate will work for smaller camera or lenses (and there are custom plates tailored for specific cameras or larger lenses).

Q: 4. Has anyone had specific experience using the Lever-Release on the BH-40 ballhead with Markins and Sunway L-brackets and Kirk replacement tripod foot for Canon 100-400? They work with my Markins Lever Release ballhead, and I'm now looking for an additional lever-release ballhead. RRS website says to use knob release for non-RRS plates. (Yes, I know B&H sells Markins ballheads, but apparently only the knob release, and not the lever release heads. Thanks in advance.

A: RRS as well as many other manufacturers use the Arca style system which is a standard and allows for interchangeability of brands.

Q: 5. Can this work on an 055XB Manfrotto Tripod?

A: This will be compatible with the 055XB.

Q: 6. Screw versus lever release - comparing durability, security, and ease of use. Wondering which bh-40 to get. I've only had lever release heads before and while theoretically they're quick release, I've had them "stick" on me. As I'm getting this head for my heaviest, most expensive gear, I'm in some ways more interested in what clamp style keeps that gear from falling OFF the head than in being able to get the gear off the head fast. Any thoughts from experienced users who have used both clamp types?

A: While I have only examined and not used these outstandingly designed and manufactured ball heads, the fact is I was a motion picture camera assistant who mounted $500,000 movie cameras in precarious positions, and therefore I do have an opinion. The knob/lever decision comes down to exactly the point you elucidate, to wit: security vs. convenience. If you require 100% security assurance, get the knob. If you can live with 99% assurance, get the lever.

Q: 7. Does this fit a phantom 4? It doesn't look the same as the new Koozam phantom 4 backpack

A: This case is compatible with the Phantom 1, Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision, Phantom 2 Vision+, and Phantom 3 models. The Phantom 4 and accessories will not fit.

Q: 8. Can this be use on Robus RC-5570 Vantage Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod ?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the Robus 5570.

Q: 9. does compact lever work well with 70-200

A: Yes, Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Full-Size Lever-Release Clamp would work perfect with your 70-200mm lens.

Q: 10. Does this ball head allow to put the camera in a vertical position and tilt the camera up and down?

A: Yes, you can maneuver the head in any position.
