Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this bag hold an Ice Light 2? The interior length of the bag is listed as 21 and the Ice Light 2 has a length of 21.6. In theory it could go in at an angle, or there might be enough give that it fits anyway? I'm curious if anybody's tried putting an Ice Light in the bag to know for sure.

A: Hi Brian, Storing an Ice Light 2 in the BackLight 36L is going to be tight, but doable as long as you store the Ice Light in the center of the of the bag. There is a small chance that you will have to adjust the top most divider in the bags main compartment in order for the Ice Light to fit properly.

Q: 2. Will the new 16in Macbook M1 pro fit in this backpack?

A: Yes the 16in Macbook M1 pro should fit. The MindShift Gear BackLight 26L Backpack lap top compartment is 15.3 x 10 x 1" and the Macbook pro 16 inch M1 chip is 14.01 x 9.77 x 0.66 inches.

Q: 3. does it feel feel heavy with a mirrorless body, zoom lens (100-400) , and 2 primes with air2s and controller? and would i be able to carry it for longer times?

A: The MindShift Gear BackLight 26L Backpack 19.29 x 10.24 x 5.91 inch interior so it should fit the items you mentioned.

Q: 4. Is the waist strap removable?

A: No, but it can be connected out of the way around the front of the bag.

Q: 5. Does the 26L have effective load lifters?

A: Yes, the lifters do their job well.

Q: 6. Is this bag deep enough for a Sony A7R IV with battery grip?

A: Yes.

Q: 7. When fully extended, how big of a waist will the strap fit? Thanks

A: Fully extended the waist strap measures 60 on the inside

Q: 8. Will Thnktank holters fit on the hip belt ?

A: The Think Tank Digital Holsters can attach to one of the two nylon webbing straps on the padded waist belt of the BackLight 18L.

Q: 9. One reviewer noted that the bag is too small . Was he referring to the internal size/capacity or was it an issue with the fit on his body being too small? I have an uncomfortable PacSafe backpack with excessively closely-positioned shoulder straps (I have broad shoulders) and would not want this pack if it were similar.

A: I'm 5 10 with broad shoulders, and the bag fits me fine. For me, it works great. I use it for hiking.

Q: 10. What/how much can it hold beyond whatever space is designated for gear like cameras/laptops? How about some spare clothes like fleece/jacket, sunscreen, snacks for the day etc.?

A: It does have room for quite a few extras but you cannot just stuff a random ton in the outside pockets, some thought is required. The two side pockets for example hold standard Nalgene bottles but are better filled with flat one liter collapsible Platypus bottles, keeps the total width down. Snacks and lunch fit no problem, for extra clothing I make sure to choose modern light weight hiking gear like unlined rain jackets, merino sweaters etc., items that can be folded flat and slid in rather than scrunched in. There are exterior straps that I have used to tie on a down vest and hiking poles. I bought it to use on long day hikes for just the reason you are asking, I needed both camera gear and additional clothing. It is working out great.
