A: The 405 is hefty which contributes to steadiness. I shoot rail assist as well using a lighted tent and the 405 does a good job. Just make sure you operate the adjustment knobs within their degree limits, if not the setting may snap. Unless you use the mirror lock your tripod may react to the vibration as well I had to upgrade may tripod because the shutter action during 7x HDR shot would walk the polished marble floor during a real estate shoot. I upgraded from the Manfrotto 055 to the 475B also because of the legs flexing on a slick surface.
