This VEO 3 GO 235AB Aluminum Tripod/Monopod with T-50 Ball Head from Vanguard is a support system that features a tripod with a detachable leg and removable center column that can be combined to form a monopod with a 54.3" height. Cameras, lenses, or sport optics that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the included quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod/monopod's ball head using an Arca-type quick release clamp. The T-50 Ball Head is removable, provides up to a 91° tilt for portrait orientation and 360° of independent rotation, and can be locked into place along its range of movement. Also provided is a smartphone connector and a Bluetooth remote, allowing the monopod formed by the detachable leg and removable center column to be used as a smartphone selfie stick.

When configured as a tripod, the VEO 3 GO 235AB Aluminum Tripod/Monopod with T-50 Ball Head supports up to 8.8 lb and measures 13" when folded. Each of its 5-section legs features an independent spread, a 3-position angle lock, and twist locks for rapid deployment. As a tripod, it can be set at a minimum height of 7.9" when its removable, push-and-pull, rapid center column is substituted with the included Low-Angle Adapter. Together, the three legs can be extended to obtain a maximum height of 41.8 or 53.3" when used with the center column fully raised. Each of the aluminum alloy legs includes a rubber foot, and to further enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces, including soft or uneven soil, a set of spiked feet is also provided.

For added versatility, the center column is reversible, facilitating lower-angle photography where an attached camera is positioned among the tripod's legs instead of above them.

A carry bag is provided for storage and transport.

Q: 4. Is the ball head removable? If so what size screw is on the tripod? I ask as I want to attach a 3/8" gimbal directly to tripod.

Q: 5. Do both configurations (tripod and tripod-to-monopod) come with flip locks? Both descriptions say flip locks, but the product photos for the tripod with monopod option show twist locks.

A: Sorry for the confusion. The Tripod + Monopod version comes with twist locks rather than flip locks.

Q: 6. Can the center column screw to the monopod? It is fairly short for a tall guy like me.

Good construction. It's not a $ + tripod by any means. But it is great and stable for the pictures that I take.

I use this for sundown and night cityscape photography. I plan to use it for day shooting when I get a ND filter. This is a great value for what you get. Vanguard seems to supply all the bells and whistles on this one. It comes with tools, bag, a sturdy ball head with bubble levels, 2 mounts for cameras, padded grips, etc... It feels sturdy and is very diverse in application. You can shoot from all kinds of positions with it. The panning and movements are smooth, everything locks down firm, and the construction feels sturdy and strong. Does not feel cheep or fragile. And it is rated to 15 pounds. I see no cons with this product. It is what it is, a durable sturdy tripod in its category. My other tripod is over 12 years old, and was not too stable. And this Alta Pro 263AB feels a lot more sturdy and firm. I'm sure this Alta Pro will last even longer.

I was hesitating between this one and a Manfrotto 294. I finally went this one because of the discount and I was more than happy to have it since then. The tripod is sturdy by all means. I own a Canon 6D and a Zeiss 35/2 and the tripod holds them at ease and the panning and movement is easily and smoothly. The removable center column and good quality tripod bag are definitely advantages over Manfrotto, which makes it the best choice for a tripod within $.

I've shopped around before purchasing this one, and I believe, it's the absolute best in it's price range. It can hold the camera steady in any angle, including horizontal top-to-bottom (the main reason I've bought it - is for product photography). And it's REALLY tall. Fully extended - is almost two times taller then my other tripod. In fully extended, horizontal position it's stable as is, but I'm using 5 Lb. weight, just in case to avoid any risks. Other reviewers said that it's heavy... My opinion - it's not. I've went hiking with it (about 4-5 miles) with no problems. Maybe if you're planning to climb Mt. Everest, you should take extra 0.5 Lb. into consideration. But in normal life situations - it's really not an issue.
