Once a Sigma Art, Contemporary, or Sports line lens is connected, you can use the Sigma Optimization Pro software to configure focus settings and update lens firmware.

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style.

If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are available: three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus; the ability to constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits; and three Optical Stabilizer modes to suit the manner in which you are shooting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the Sigma dock something I should buy new? Or is buying used ok with this item?

A: Either way new or used on the Sigma USB Dock for Nikon F-Mount Lenses is fine.

Q: 2. Is this necessary for my used Sigma A mount 120-400mm? I have it adapted to my A7RII and noticed some off points while trying to get it to focus on closer subjects while shotting a professional soccer match. Could this be useful?

A: The Sigma USB Dock for Sony A-Mount Lenses will only work with Sigma Global Vision lenses. These are the Art, Sports or Contemporary lenses. Not with the Sigma 120mm-400mm lens that you have, because it was released in 2008, and it doesn't have the connectors for that dock.

Q: 3. dimension?

A: The unit fits onto the end of your lens in place of the camera. It is smaller diameter than the 35 mm Sigma art lens, and although do not have it in front of me maybe an inch tall.

Q: 4. I have the Sigma 18-35mm art lens and a Nikon D5200, so just checking that this is the dock I would need to purchase for that setup. I almost ordered the USB Dock for Sigma Lenses by Sigma since it's a Sigma lens, but then saw this option, which I'm assuming would be correct if it's based on mounting the Sigma lens to a Nikon body. So, as I said, just wanted to be sure I'm ordering the correct dock for my setup. Thanks.

A: Yes, that is the correct dock. You do not want the one for Sigma lenses. You want the one for Nikon lenses.

Q: 5. Is dock compatible with Sigma DG 120-400 HSM and Sigma EX 105DG HSM lenses for updates?

A: Unfortunately no, the 120-400 lens pre-dates the USB dock. So far the USB dock only works with the lenses listed at this link:http://bit.ly/1jkZiED

Q: 6. Could this help with my Sigma a mount 120-400mm? Noticed skmeissues with focussing when I shot a professional soccer match this weekend. I have it adapted to my A7RII (bought used and adapted cause of the affordability)

A: The Sigma USB Dock for Sony A-Mount Lenses will only work with Sigma Global Vision lenses. These are the Art, Sports or Contemporary lenses. Not with the Sigma 120mm-400mm lens released in 2008.

Q: 7. Does it work fot sigma 24-702.8DG HSM?

A: As long as its the Nikon version of the lens it will work.

Q: 8. I'm a little confused about the lens/mount requirements. I have a Nikon D610 camera and am going to purchase the Sigma contemporary 150-600mm lens for my Nikon camera. Which dock do I purchase...the one fpr sigma lenses or another for (Nikon) F-Mount lenses??

A: Chester,For your D610 (or any other Nikon) you will need the USB Dock for Nikon F mount. If you are using Windows 7 Pro make sure the dock and lens communicate properly as soon as you receive it. Mine does not recognize the lens. B&H sent a second USB dock with the same results. I contacted Sigma who recommended I send the lens and dock together in to them to test. I did and they said it tested out fine and the problem must be with my computer (they suspected the antivirus software). I tried it with the antivirus disabled with the same results. I updated all the drivers for the chipset, LAN and USB devices and still got the same results. My GPS, weather station and all other USB devices work fine. I'm keeping the dock so if I have access to another computer at one point I can try to get it working.

Q: 9. Is the Sigma USB Dock compatible with the nikon 18-300mm compatible. Thanks

A: No it is not. This device is only compatible with Sigma brand Global Vision type Lenses, and in this instance specifically those made by Sigma for the Nikon mount.

Q: 10. Does this dock work with Macs?

A: Yes it does. This is compatible with both Mac and PC computers.

It made the firmware upgrade on my 150-600 sport a snap. The upgrade increased auto focusing speed nicely on my D810 and I was able to easily set up custom settings on the lens

The Sigma 120-300mm is built like a tank, and weighs just about as much. I prefer a lens that has some weight to it. It means it's built well with good materials. Afterall, real glass and metals weigh more than plastics. Some of the youtube reviewers complained about the stiffness of the zoom and focus rings. Better to be on the stiff side than to have an adjustment that moves on it's own. Besides, zooming is barely a quarter turn at most. One of the chief complaints of the reviewers was with the setscrew on the massive lens hood that seemed to fall off. I believe that is due to over torking the screw when in use, as the mechanism is attached to the hood merely by two smaller screws that probably strip from the outward pressure. The lens is fast at autofocus and has been tack sharp right out of the box. Its heavy and pricey, but its a keeper for me.

It was super simple to use as long as you have a set up to accurately measure the distance of your focusing. Easy learning curve via online resources and helped me get the results I was looking for. Some lenses may be pretty close from the factory while others may be super off. This product at least allowed me to get the results I need without having to send it back to Sigma.

I shoot with a Sony Alpha 65 that does not have a microadjustment focus feature, so I was very glad to be able to get this to use with my Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Dc Hsm Art Lens. This also allows for many more adjustments than an in camera adjustment would, it really makes a world of difference.

You will need this if your Sigma lenses need adjustments. My a-mount Sigma 24-105mm was a bit front-focus out of box at 70mm and 105mm so I had to use it to make adjustments. The good thing was it came with the lens for free, part of the reason I grabbed deal as soon as it appeared.

When I was just using micro adjustments, in camera. I found that things changed from close up to far . I didn't need it as much micro adjustments. At far as i needed close up. I picked up a Autofocus Calibration Aid. That when i found out what was going on. I was inputting micro adjustments ever time i want in for a close up . this got old fast . the USB Dock has Fixed this . i can hit focus ever time at F1.4 . close up through out the 4 zones . The software program is easy to use. Install was simple . I don't like the fact. It look's to see if the firmware. Is up to date, ever time you dock the lens .It would be nice if had a setting look only once a day .My 35 mm has 4 focus zone's to edit. Take picture put on dock wait for the firmware is up to date.edit zone take picture wait for firmware is up to date. now edit. I think you get the point now moveing on . in the software. Editing the zone's. selecting the zone... Ya i scrached my head a little on that part . To make it simple Click the 0 under the red line , in the zone . You want to edit.. very simple once you know were to click ! Autofocus Calibration Aid, you will need this .To see what your doing. So the question's Dose it work ? YES it dose ! Is it worth the money ? YES it is ! Is it easy to use ?once you know were to click . YES it is . Any thing you would change ? Yes looking to see if the lens is up to date ! Can we say annoying ? YES WE CAN!

I hooked it up and plugged my lens into it. It worked I guess. Nothing really to adjust on a brand new lens.
