Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the Go pro mount be removed so you can use it to mount other brand cameras using the base screw? Thanks!

A: Yes. If you remove the blue piece, which is also sold separately as B&H # FOQRMOUNTBL, then you'll find a standard 1/4 -20 thread. Unlike the Manfrotto Nano Clamp it's nicely padded where it clamps onto your handlebar. One word of caution, if this is for a bicycle and if you're at all concerned about the weight of your bike then this is NOT the mount for you. It is surprisingly heavy, but seems very durable and well-made.

Q: 2. Can this be used with Nikon D7100 and the Tamron 150-600 lens?

A: My D810 with MB-D12 and Nikon 200-500mm live on this thing. It's rock solid and works flawlessly.

Q: 3. would QR plate from Induro Gimbal work with this head?

A: Probably, if it is a standard Arca QR plate. I use one of these: Desmond DTB-60 Quick Release Plate (60mm). It works fine.

Q: 4. will this work with a Canon 7D MK II WITH a battery grip installed?

A: A Canon 7D Mark II with a battery grip installed can be used with this gimbal head. However, the head is really meant to hold a long telephoto lens with a tripod ring attached to that type of camera.

Q: 5. I have used this head for about three years. Now, the screw on the plate that clamps the foot on the camera will NOT screw in far enough to hold the foot on the camera lens. I have removed the screw, oiled it, and tried many times. I can physically push the clamp plate all the way in, so the springs are not in the way. How can I fix this so I can use this head again?

A: Is there any damage on the screw threads? That might be preventing it from going in all the way.

Q: 6. do they work with the blackmagic Design Studio Camera? and which follow focus do i need for this lens and camera?

A: yes these lenses are MFT mount and will work on the MFT mount Blackmagic studio camera

Q: 7. does it fit the Hero 4?

A: Yes, BUT I found it to fit a little snug if you're using the frame to mount your gopro. When I used the frame, it squeezed it a little too much to the point that the button pass-throughs did not function properly. Would be the same with either the gopro 3/3+, most likely. But if you're using one of the plastic enclosure housings, should be fine for any gopro.

Q: 8. Can I use this also as a normal tripod head with the base plate on the camera bottom and a regular sized lens i.e. 50mm? Dual purpose is the question. Enough space to the right for a normal sized DSLR.

A: Yes. You would just lock the vertical rotation arm and open the horizontal lock. The gimbal will just rotate left to right all the way around if you want. Smaller lenses are no prob but I would yes the Arca quick release plate attached to thr camera. This is a great Gimbal.

Q: 9. What size pipe will this clamp fit around?

A: Clamps around any bar from 1.3" to 2.1" (34.25mm - 54.5mm) in diameter.

Q: 10. I have the 1st generation Tamron 150-600 and am having difficulty identifying what accessory foot, or plate (are they the same thing? this is new territory for me), is ideal to make it compatible with the Jobu Jr. 3 - the B&H guy was not reassuringly confident in his answers. Thanks for your help!

A: Hi V.C.: The foot is the base of the lens collar that typically comes attached to a lens of that size. I have a Sigma 150-600 and am not familiar with the Tamron, but expect that they are very similar lenses. The foot should have a standard threaded hole. You need to buy the mounting plate that attaches to the foot of the collar through the standard hole. Any arca-Swiss type mounting plate will do. I recommend a plate 2 inches longer than the foot (measured front to back of the lens). That will give you some room to slide the lens back and forth for better balance on the gimbel head. I purchased the Jobu 7 inch. A little pricey for what it is, but it works great.
