Leica took design inspiration from their original 1960s models using 21st Century materials and optical innovations to produce their 7x35 Trinovid Classic Binoculars. Elegantly wrapped in leather, the look and feel of the binoculars are a throwback to those carried on the first Apollo mission to the moon with the optical performance you expect from Leica.
Walking a fine line between compact and full-size, this iteration provides competent light-gathering ability to keep the views bright in challenging conditions without being too big or heavy, so you can comfortably carry and use them all day without fatigue. Their compact roof prism light path and scratch-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC) and hydrophobic AquaDura lens coating work together to produce bright and clear high-contrast views with minimal distortion across the entire generous field of view. A moderate 7x magnification produces a comfortable eye relief and wide exit pupil that not only present an immersive viewing experience but greatly improve long-duration viewing comfort, even in low light conditions.
Complementing the views produced by the Trinovid are construction details that make this optic as much a conversation starter as they are useful daily-use binoculars. First is a lightweight, sturdy, and corrosion-resistant aluminum chassis that makes these binoculars light and easy to handle. The body is covered with a textured black leather that protects them from bumps and impacts while giving them a firm and steady grip in cold conditions. Their optical tubes are resistant to light rain and splashing water, so they will hold up if you get caught when the weather takes a turn.

Q: 1. Do these have the tripod screw hole?
A: Yes they do.
Q: 2. the 2 pins sticking up from plate is not in play, my plate on camera slides above them???
A: I am using a Wimberley universal camera plate on a canon6D and I also have a Kirk L plate. These both slide into the top jaws of the quick release plate where they sit well clear of the two pins in the QRP. I assume that these two pins are intended to be in play with a narrower type of camera plate designed to slide into the lower jaws of the release plate. In effect, I have always disregarded the two pins as not being relevant to my camera plate. I have never had any problem in using the QRP as it is set up, but I always make sure that I have the camera firmly in my hands when I attach it to or remove it from my tripod. Incidentally, I note that the two pins in the QRP are not shown anywhere in the leaflet that Arca Swiss provided with the Z1 Monoball tripod head. Perhaps there is separate relevant information about them and how they are intended to operate, in the specifications for various Arca Swiss QRPs. I hope my comments will be of some help to your enquirer.
Q: 3. What size lens caps work for the objectives and eyepieces for this 10x25 BCA model? I’m looking at the Kaiser lens caps. Thanks!
A: The lens cap needed will be 31mm, we tried using the 32mm Keiser cap but it is a bit too big.
Q: 4. Hello just received my 7x35 binoculars. They are much larger than I thought I read on your site, "compact for a regular size binocular. My question is about the shadows being a brilliant blue. looking at a bird across in daylight all of the shadows cast were blue. Watching a bird fly above, the black wings were blue. Annoying as I want the true colors knowing it is a black bird. Why? is this a defect?
A: Its called Chromatic Aberration or Chromatic Distortion. Its the failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same point. To a certain point all lenses have this issue. Telescopes, binoculars and even camera lenses. Manufactures try to compensate for this with the uses of special coatings on the elements. Sorry but you will probably see less noticeable chromatic aberration with some higher end binoculars. Also Chromatic Aberration is most noticeable around dark objects or objects in the shade.
Q: 5. How do you put a strap on Leica bcm binoculars
A: Find used items on eBay. They will show pictures of binoculars with strap.
Q: 6. how far can one see with them?
A: Hi Marjorie. These binoculars will magnify objects you are observing 7 times. In other words, the object will appear 7 times closer or larger. The optics used are very good and the image they produce is very clear. So if you combine magnification with a clear image, you will be able to make out detail you could not see with your eyes alone. So the question is not how far you can see but rather how much better you can see an object than with your eyes alone. For instance, with your eyes, you may see a bird in a tree 100 yds. away. With these binoculars, you will be able to tell the species of the bird. Hope this helps
Q: 7. What is the difference between the single-coated version of this lens and the multi-coated version of this lens? How does each affect images?
A: The more coatings a lens or optic has, the better the lights transmission through the lens, meaning it helps light maintain a straight path to the sensor/film plane. This will cause the image to have better sharpness and contrast. A single coated version of a lens like this would be better suited for someone who enjoys shooting black and white images, and prefers lower contrast.
Q: 8. Would these binoculars be be good for boating in open water? Thanks
A: While the stabilization system in the ZEISS 20x60 Classic S Image Stabilization Binoculars would work well on a boat, the 20x magnification is not considered a good magnification for nautical use. The 7x50 binoculars are considered best for boating and because they are only 7x magnification, a stabilizer is not needed. I would recommend this Steiner 7x50: https://bhpho.to/3otqVti
Q: 9. how do you adatch this to a tripod/monopod? Thanks jd
A: Using a cradle type of tripod adapter. Example: Leica Binocular Tripod Adapter BH #LETABN • MFR #42220
Q: 10. Hi, Are these Nikon's poro the best in that type of binos. I don't know if there still available but I was looking for the Nikon SE II 8x42. Would they be?Thank'sRejean from Montreal
A: So unfortunately those SE Mode's have been discontinued. My apologies. This Action Series is very good, but it is not as good of quality as the SE Series was. A nice model you can also check out is the Opticron 8x42 Imagic TGA WP Binocular. Website link: http://bhpho.to/1KBj9RK
