Leica took design inspiration from their original 1960s models using 21st Century materials and optical innovations to produce their 8x40 Trinovid Classic Binoculars. Elegantly wrapped in leather, the look and feel of the binoculars are a throwback to those carried on the first Apollo mission to the moon with the optical performance you expect from Leica.

A compact roof prism light path and scratch-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC) and hydrophobic AquaDura lens coating work together to produce bright and clear high-contrast views with minimal distortion across the entire spacious field of view. Their moderate 8x magnification produces a comfortable eye relief and wide exit pupil that not only present an immersive viewing experience but greatly improve long-duration viewing comfort, even in low light conditions.

Complementing the views produced by the Trinovid are construction details that make this optic as much a conversation starter as they are useful daily-use binoculars. First is a lightweight, sturdy, and corrosion-resistant aluminum chassis that makes these binoculars light and easy to handle. The body is covered with textured black leather that protects them from bumps and impacts while giving them a firm and steady grip in cold conditions. Their optical tubes are resistant to light rain and splashing water, so they will hold up if you get caught when the weather takes a turn.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What size lens caps work for the objectives and eyepieces for this 10x25 BCA model? I’m looking at the Kaiser lens caps. Thanks!

A: The lens cap needed will be 31mm, we tried using the 32mm Keiser cap but it is a bit too big.

Q: 2. How do you put a strap on Leica bcm binoculars

A: Find used items on eBay. They will show pictures of binoculars with strap.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this and the OP/TECH USA Utility Strap-Sling (Black) B&H # OPSUSBZ MFR # 3501242 ?

A: The only difference is in the shape of the pad. The pad construction and the connectors are all the same. As the Utility version has a curved pattern, it is designed primarily for the left shoulder which is most common. It can be worn on the right shoulder but you'd need to purchase a set of Gender Changers so that the orientation of the strap can be changed to function properly. The Super Classic Sling can be worn easily on the left or right shoulder as it uses a straight pad design. They are both extremely comfortable so it's merely a matter of perference.

Q: 4. Is it compatible with a Manfrotto BeFree Carbon fibre tripod? and what camera plate should I get with this for a Canon 7D mark II and Canon 5D mark III?

A: One of the fortunate things in the world of photography regarding tripods with removable heads, they are held on by universal 3/8 screw studs. Therefore, this superb ball head will mount on the Manfrotto BeFree without issue. As to camera plates, we recommend L- Brackets as the wiser choice. This allows you to move the camera 90 without moving the ball head position. This saves a lot of unnecessary repositioning work. We suggest these affordable L Brackets. Other options include those by Really Right Stuff and Kirk. For the 7D Mark II, Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR L Bracket for Canon 7D Mark II DSLR B&H # SUPCL7DIIR. For the 5D Mark III, Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIIIR L Bracket for Canon 5D Mark III DSLR B&H # SUPCL5DIIIR.

Q: 5. The protective covers for the lenses are not tight enough to stay on - what's a good alternative? Also, what would be a good carrying case for these?

A: While we are not aware of alternative lens covers we can tell you that the Lowepro Photo Traveler 150 Backpack (Mica) is a great option for a carrying case, BH #LOPT150.

Q: 6. Can I adapt this lens to EF Mount to use with Ursa Mini Pro?

A: Not sure sorry

Q: 7. I was wondering if it is possible to get a replacement rubber for the eyepiece on the Leica 10x20 BCA Trinovid?

A: Unfortunately we do not carry the Leica replacement eyecups. My sincere apologies. I would recommend contacting Leica directly for this piece. Leica's Telephone#: 800-222-0118

Q: 8. Is this Z1+?

A: I have the z1 sp and it looks the same as the one you have. I understand that the z1+ is a more recent version of the z1 with double panning capability. It is marked with the z1+ designation on the same side of the head as the one you show, so I would think that yours is not the z1+ version. No doubt there would be a price premium for the z1+ version.

Q: 9. what is the country of manufacture, please?

A: I just found on my Zeiss Terra ED 8x42 bins the stamp, "Made in China". Please forgive my not being politically correct but I didn't but a pair of Zeiss binoculars to discover that they are made in China. They are not made made in Portugal.

Q: 10. I would like a more complete description of the cordura case, for example, does it have a belt loop and zipper, etc?

A: The Leica binocs I bought in December were a gift. We did not include a case. We have the same ones that we have had for many, many years ago and have never used a case. We wrap them in our clothes when we travel. Otherwise they are around our necks for instant use. Sorry I could not help you with the case.
