Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you adjust the fps?

A: Page 81 of the user guide would discuss how the release mode can be changed. https://bhpho.to/2z4wCAs

Q: 2. Who make lens

A: Nikon make lens

Q: 3. What EXACTLY is included in te $1,796.95? Words like 'the usual' are not applicable in today's world of slice and dice.

A: In the box you'll receive: -Nikon Z6 body -1 EN-EL15b Battery -1 MH-25A Battery Charger -1 UC-E24 USB Cable -HDMI/USB Cable Clip -BS-1 Hotshoe Cover -Nikon AN-DC19 Camera Strap -BF-N1 Body Cap -DK-29 Rubber Eyecup -Limited 1 year warranty There is an option to choose free accessories which will be: a 32gb XQD card and the Ruggard Journey 24 DSLR Shoulder Bag

Q: 4. The LCD screen moves like the Z7 model?

A: Yes the LCD on the Z6 can tilt just like the one on the Z7.

Q: 5. will the lenses from my Nikon D3100 work with the new Mirrorless Nikon camera?

A: There are some older DX lenses that do not have built in auto focus motors. Like the Nikon 18-135mm 3.5-5.6. Lenses like that will not auto focus on the Z cameras. Any Nikon lens that has AF-S or AF-P will work. Be aware though that the D3100 is suited to DX cropped sensor lenses and that the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras are full frame cameras, so when you use DX lenses they turn off about half of the Z camera's pixels and record only on a smaller APS-c shaped center area of the sensor. So, try to equip your Z camera with full frame FX lenses for best results.

Q: 6. Excuse me can the Nikon Z6 camera be set to Chinese?

A: there are many languages - check the online manual

Q: 7. does the z6 provide phantom power to external mics?

A: The Nikon Z6 does offer phantom power to external microphones.

Q: 8. Can I attach an external storage device so that I do not have to buy XQD cards?

A: I should add that Nikon says they plan to issue an update to allow for the use of CFast 2.0 cards in the future. As of August 2019, however, no such update has been issued.

Q: 9. I have the Z6 and the XQD card. It imports my RAW files into Lightroom with no problem, but it will only import the JPEG files into Aperture on my MAC and not the RAW files. Any idea why? Is Aperture not useable with the Nikon RAW files from the Z6? It works fine for the RAW files from my D810 and D800.

A: The problem is Aperture (and possibly your computer working in conjunction with Aperture) does not have the new drivers needed to open the RAW files created by the Z camera. Unfortunately, those drivers will not be forthcoming. Aperture support by Apple was dropped in 2014 and now after Mojave, the application itself will not work at all on Apple computers. Apple recently announced this. See link. We, as well as Apple, strongly suggest you migrated your Aperture Library to Lightroom Classic ASAP. Lightroom Classic has an import function made for Aperture and I personally recommend that. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209594

Q: 10. Do you also need the XQD card reader to download the pictures into your computer or could the enclosed USB cable perform that tast of connecting pictures from the camera into the computer ?

A: With a USB-C cable, I am able to import JPEG images from XQD memory card to Macbook Pro 13inch.

I am just an amateur photographer and was using an entry level DSLR Nikon camera for astrophotography but I reached its limits.
I did a lot of research on going to a mirrorless full frame camera and I decided to go with the Nikon Z6 with the 24-70/4 S lens. The Z6 performs very well and has a built in intervalometer for taking time-lapse photos and in my case time-lapse of the Milky Way. More and more examples of this can be found on youtube using the Z6 camera.
The battery life seems to be kind of short (about 300 shots) so I opted for the battery grip so the camera holds 2 batteries now.
One thing that I do like about this camera is that you have 3 user modes that you can save all your settings to each one like f stops, ISO, Shutter and a number of other functions.
A feature that I really like is the monitor switch mode. If you have to hold the camera up high you can tilt the touch screen monitor towards you so you can see what you are taking a photo of. When you look through the eyepiece, your monitor automatically turns off to save battery power and turns on the digital eyepiece viewer which is actually a very sharp and clear. Your front monitor turns back on when you are no longer looking through the eyepiece.

this camera is awesome so 5 stars is appropriate. the only thing i wish i would have known is that using the FTZ with my f mount lenses works great with photo's but with video you can't use the AF-F or the lens makes lots of noise. had i known i would have bought the package with the 24-70 f4 for a couple hundred more. now i am stuck with 6hundred to get the lens after the fact. great camera though.

First off, the shipping was extremely fast. I was skeptical about the size of this camera due to it being a smaller body than the previous DSLRs that I own. However, when I received the Z6 it fit very comfortable in my hands. I purchased the 85mm instead of having the kit lens. I did some test shoots with it before actually taking it out, everything went smooth. This past Saturday I used the Z6 in my first outdoor photoshoot and I was blow away at how great the images looked straight out of the camera. This is a versatile camera that can easily be used for a wide array of activities. I have not used it enough to say any obvious cons about it. Yes it only comes with 1 card slot and non-rotating/swivel LCD but those do not bother me and are not that big of a need.

I wanted mirrorless and wanted to stay with Nikon if possible. I've only had this a brief time but am so far extremely happy I made this purchase. The FTZ mount adapter works well with my F mount lenses. A couple of small things: I have arthritis in my hands and find the door to the card holder a little difficult to open. Also, sometimes have difficulty removing the card. But as far as performance of the camera, extremely happy.

Easy to use on automatic, takes great pictures on manual. Definitely buy a card reader though as you will want to update the firmware immediately for facial recognition.

I bouht this camera for video. It's small and powerful. I have the kit lens because I don't have any Nikon lenses. I also bought an adapter for my Pentax lenses to use in manual focus. I end up using the kit lens 90% of the time. I shoot in the flat profile and give the picture a film look in post. Excellent results. I hope to be using this camera for years to come.

I switched from a D800 and I'm very happy I decided to change. I don't have any S lenses yet so my 1st session using the Z 6 was with my 85mm 1.8 using the FTZ adapter. The pictures were flawless!! I can't wait to get a couple of S lenses to see what this mirrorless camera can really do. Thanks B&H for simplicity in shopping on your site. Shipping was very fast!! You have a customer for life.

After weeks of online reading, reviews, opinions, and comparisons, I finally settled on the Z6. I may not know too much about photography, but weather sealing, image stabilization, a full frame sensor, and 4K video, my other choices seemed to lack one of them. Time will tell if I made the right choice, but with the limited amount of playing around I’ve done, I’m happy. Could the battery life be longer, sure, but in all reality I was looking at nature and landscape photography, so I didn’t feel it would be a major issue. Again, time will tell.
