The tan Countryman E6X Omnidirectional Earset Mic, Standard Gain with Detachable 2mm Cable and TA4F Connector for HME Wireless Transmitters is a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i earset that features a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom and is suitable for use when a few people will be using the same mic.

The E6X earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6X earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the highest gain for general speaking such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6X earset's cable terminates to a TA4F connector for direct connection to HME TX550 and TX822 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6 Flex or E6X offers a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i. With a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom, the E6 Flex is secure on the ear and fast to fit without compromising true invisibility and sound.

The E6X's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6X earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6X earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this on a Whimberley WH200 to shoot landscape?

A: Being that the WH200 uses an Arca type clamp, this head can attach to it via the Arca base at the bottom.

A: It will work with the RODE NTG 4+ and hundreds of other microphones as well.

Q: 4. Can i use this with Rode NTG ?

A: Yes, the Rode Boompole for Rode NTG1, NTG2 and Video Mic (10') is a great pairing for use with Rode's NTG line of shotgun microphones along with an appropriate shock mount that matches the form factor of the specific mic and mounts to the pole.

Q: 5. Is there a technique to prevent hearing the adjustment of the boom pole when recording? I use a Rode NTG2 with a shock mount, and every time I adjust it, I can hear squeaks through my headphones.

A: Not that im aware of, the shockmount have to be really good to lock out that. I got the Rycote, it still pics up every single tap on the boom.

Q: 6. I have the Boompole and through use the threaded insert has been damaged, is it replaceable?

A: Yes, it can. I had the same problem. Contact Rode directly and they will send you a replacement part.

Q: 8. Can the L and R 1/4" outputs be set to send a mixed mono signal?

A: If you are mixing in Mono, you can use either or both of the balanced 1/4" outputs from the Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to send a mono balanced output.

Q: 9. Can this be attached to a light stand or any other kind of stand?

A: Yes, the Rode Boompole can be attached to a light stand by using a boompole holder and grip head such as the Auray Boompole Holder and Grip Head Kit (B&H # GBBPHK). For other stands like microphone stands and photo/video tripods, you can use adapters or a super clamp that is rated to support the weight.

Q: 10. Can I use my school classroom landline phone (wall jack) instead of a smartphone? What type of cable would I need?

A: No, it is not possible to connect the Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to a landline phone for input or output. The PodTrak P8 can connect to a computer via USB and take calls via computer or it can take calls via a smartphone, using the 3.5mm TRRS input.
