The black Countryman E6X Omnidirectional Earset Mic, Low Gain with Detachable 2mm Cable and 3.5mm locking Connector for Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom Portable Recorders is a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i earset that features a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom and is suitable for use when a few people will be using the same mic.

The E6X earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6X earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the lowest gain for the most powerful vocals that require the highest overload. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6X earset's cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom DM-420, DM-520, DM-620, DS-2400, DS-40, DS-51, DS-61, DS-71, LS-10, LS-14, R05, R09HR, PCM-D50, PCM-M10, DR-05, DR-07mkII, DR-08, PR-10, Pocketrak C24, Pocketrak W24, H1, H2, and H2n portable recorders.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6 Flex or E6X offers a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i. With a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom, the E6 Flex is secure on the ear and fast to fit without compromising true invisibility and sound.

The E6X's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6X earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6X earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use the dual recording function while recording in auto mode to obtain a second lower track in case the auto track spikes?

A: Unfortunately not. Once you are in Auto you have no level control. And what you do to one track you do to both.

Q: 2. Is the file in MP3 format?

A: The Tascam DR-05X can record audio files in MP3 or WAV format.

Q: 3. How do I download this device to the computer? Do I need a memory card reader?

A: You can use a memory card reader, but the easier method is to connect the recorder to your computer via a USB cable. This is discussed on page 11 or the owner's manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/453697.pdf

Q: 4. The descr says 24-bit 44.1 max. Is this accurate? Even my older R16 does 24-bit 48K if wanted.

A: The Zoom R20 Portable Multitrack Recorder records at 44.1 kHz.

Q: 5. How does it content to a reference monitor like the Yamaha h3 or 6?

A: The Zoom R20 Portable Multitrack Recorder has 1/4" TRS main outputs, which could be connected to monitor speakers.

Q: 6. Does DR-05X record from line input audio continuously without skipping ( pausing) until memory is full ?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 7. Is there a battery-level indicator or some way to know how much charge is left in the battery?

A: The mic has a power indicator LED, but that will not provide an accurate indication of how much charge is left in the battery. You could use a volt meter for an accurate reading. An easy way to keep track of the number of hours that the mic has been in use would be to write down your start and end times on a piece of paper and store it with the mic. Just keep in mind that the MVS-5 can run for up to 36 hours with a CR2032 Battery

Q: 8. Will this work with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II

A: Yes, the Polsen MVS-5 Stereo Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 9. So this doesn't show the levels on screen so how you you know where your levels are? Is listening through headphones you only solution?

A: The device autorecords audio at two levels automatically. So you can pick which file to use after. I guess it somewhat eliminates the need for level control (as long as it's recording).

Q: 10. If I have an external stereo input plugged in, can I adjust the levels on the Tascam for the recording? If so, can the L & R channels be adjusted independent of one another, or would any adjustment apply to both channels?

A: There is no indipendent adjustment of left and right. You would need to make those adjustments in post.
