The black Countryman E6X Omnidirectional Earset Mic, Medium Gain with Detachable 1mm Cable and 2.5mm waterproof locking Connector for Lectrosonics Wireless Transmitters is a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i earset that features a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom and is suitable for use when a few people will be using the same mic.

The E6X earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6X earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers medium gain for very loud speaking, such as in theater performances and most vocals. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6X earset's cable terminates to a 2.5mm waterproof locking connector for direct connection to Lectrosonics WM wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6 Flex or E6X offers a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i. With a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom, the E6 Flex is secure on the ear and fast to fit without compromising true invisibility and sound.

The E6X's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6X earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6X earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Q: 1. I'm concerned about the description of the -12db backup recording. Obviously you want to use professional-quality XLR mics, but the manual says that the backup-recording feature only applies to the L/R inputs. But those appear to be the inputs for the attachable modules, not the phantom-powering XLR connectors on the unit. The optional XLR module doesn't provide phantom power. This means the backup-recording feature is useless for phantom-powered mics! Is this really the situation? What is the point of having this feature if it can't be used with high-quality mics for location recording, which is when you need that feature the most? Thanks for any insight.

A: As far as we know this is the case. A back-up recording in this device is just that - a back-up, insurance recording - just in case of disaster. Something is better than nothing. Backup-recordthe ultimate safety net. When turned on during the recording of WAV files, the H6 automatically records a duplicate set of L/R tracks, but with 12dB less input gain. Even if the original L/R track is distorted, chances are the Backup version is fine. You can listen to either set of tracks simply by going to the Backup File option in the PROJECT menu. When turned OFF, you'll hear the original L/R tracks; when turned ON, you'll hear the lower-level Backup tracks instead. Pick the one you prefer and use it as your L/R master. Bacon saved.

Q: 2. Why is this package discontinued? Are all of the individual components still available? I was planning on purchasing this exact package sometime soon, but just looked to see it was discontinued.

A: The WindTech CM-70 Digital Recorder Camera Mount B&H # WICM70 is no longer available.

Q: 3. I'm wondering how fast of a read and write speed I need to have on an SD card, or any of the other recommended cards for use on the Zoom H6? What might be the minimum write and/or read speed when recording 6 inputs at a time?

A: Since the recorder is compatible with standard SD cards the requirements are pretty basic. You will not have to be concerned with read/write speeds for audio like you would be for still photography and video. Any quality SDHC or SDXC class 10 memory card will work well. Any of the recommended cards listed under this recorder's ACCESSORY MEDIA tab will be fine: http://bhpho.to/1rqbYmW

Q: 4. Can I connect the Zoom H6 to a phone for live streaming?

A: No this is not possible.

Q: 5. Is there a way to plug this into the wall and not use batteries?

A: Yes, the H6 can be powered via USB using either a computer or the Zoom AD-17 power adapter (sold separately).

Q: 6. How can you sync H6 audio with separate video? With the stero-only output, it looks like I'll have to do any post-editing on the recorded wav/mp3 files from the SD card...

A: You will need to download the separate audio from the H6 (SD card) and video files from the camera onto a computer and use a software program such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Elements, iMovie, or any other video editing software you prefer to sync up the tracks. If your camera records audio, you can use the camera's audio file as a guide track to help with matching up the audio files that were recorded with the H6.

Q: 7. What is the best type of lava lire to use with this recorder? I tried plugging one in and for some reason it would not work.

A: Most lav mics will require power to work. Any lav with an XLR connector will work, as long as phantom power is turned on.

Q: 8. Any tips on a case (like a portabrace) that also holds two receivers for wireless lavs? I find with the H4N, it's just a precarious jumble of cables, but at the least the XLR inputs came out on one side.

A: Currently, there is not a case available that will house a Zoom H4N and 2 wireless receivers. You may however consider a Porta Brace AO-1X Audio Organizer Case (B&H#POAO1X). The internal dimensions of 10 x 6 x 6 allows ample room for a Zoom recorder, a couple of wireless receivers and more.

Q: 9. Has anyone tried Lithium Ion batteries in this unit? Do they work?

A: Lithium AA batteries work fine and may last two to three times longer than alkaline cells.

Q: 10. Where this product made in? or assembled in?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.
