Prime wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/1.8 design suits working in difficult lighting conditions and also enables greater control over depth of field.

Nine elements, seven groups optical design maintains a high degree of sharpness with low distortion throughout the aperture and focusing ranges.

Manual focus design enables working with subjects as close as 11.8" away and engraved depth of field and distance scales benefit zone focus and pre-focusing needs.

Nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Built-In retractable lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing flare and contributes to maintaining high contrast and accurate colors when working in strong lighting conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens have a thread for filters?

A: Yes. This lens is threaded for 52mm filters.

Q: 2. I recently purchased Sony A6300 with 16-50 and 55-210 lens.. I am planning to buy 35 mm lens as Prime lens for indoor shooting? Can any one please suggest me usage of 35mm f1.8 lens? is this is recommended for this camera?

A: I just used this lens yesterday in a museum and the results were awesome! I set ISO to auto and minimum shutter speed to 1/125 all day. With the 1.8, no loss in sharpness from camera shake! Get the lens. I was also told by a Sony rep that the 16-70 Zeiss is THE lens to get - and it is!

Q: 3. I have the Sony A5100, between the 35mm f/1.8 or the 50mm f1.8 , which one will be the best choice for outdoor and outdoor low light photography? (Amateur photographer)

A: 35mm would a general purpose lens for scenic, street, group photography. Where as 50mm would be mainly for portraits, individual, long shot photography. I carry both. 35mm is bit expensive than 50mm. to save money you can go for 50mm, then you might have to walk a little far off from the subjects if you want to do group shots.

Q: 4. Does this lens have the eye track focus feature with the A6500

A: Yes this would work with Eye tracking on the A6500.

Q: 5. Good for street photography?

A: Yes. Great for street photography. Sidewalk cafes, people, faces, etc. I like the F4 10-18 mm for architecture.

Q: 6. Would this lens work with a sony a7?

A: Yes, but only in APS-C mode. Stills would be 10 megapixels instead of 24, and video quality would suffer also.

Q: 7. Does this lens have any weather sealing?

A: No, the Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS Lens is not weather sealed.

Q: 8. Does this lens have eye tracking focusing.

A: Eye autofocus tracking works excellent with this lens on my a6400.

Q: 9. Do all mounts turn the same direction to focus?

A: Not all camera lens focus rings have the same orientation--Nikon and Canon lenses, for instance do not turn in the same direction.

Q: 10. Is this the best* E-mount lens for taking video on an a6xxx?

A: I assume yes beacuse of its good focal length and speedy autofocus
