Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this unit support a Canon Large Format printer and HP Laserjet?

A: Yes, you can use the CalDigit TS3 Plus 15-Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock (Space Gray) to connect a Canon large format printer and a HP LaserJet to a computer with a thunderbolt 3 port.

Q: 2. Can I attach a 10TB drive to the CalDigit TS3 Plus? I read that some docks can only support up to a 2TB drive. Thank you.

A: The CalDigit TS3 Plus 15-Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock (Space Gray) BH #CA500589 does not have a hard drive size limit that can be connected to. You might be thinking of a hard drive dock which could have firmware limitations and not a docking station for a computer.

Q: 3. Can i get 144hz with a 1440p monitor?

A: Yes, you would be able to get 144hz on a 1440p monitor with this CalDigit TS3 Plus 15-Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock (Space Gray).

A: No, it is not compatible.

Q: 8. Does this have an on/off switch? I want to dock my Dell laptop (which is TB3 compliant) and turn the laptop on and off without opening the laptop. I could do this with my old Dell WD15 dock (which broke so I'm looking at alternatives).

A: No, unfortunately this model does not have an on/off switch.

This thing is great. It has a plethora of ports as well as some that many thunderbolt 3 docks don’t have (optical audio). It’s easy to setup, looks great on the desk, convenient ports on the front and keeps the MBP charged up. I’ve used a few other thunderbolt 3 docks and this one is hands down the best one yet.

I'm using this with a Macbook Pro (2017). and a Scarlett 2i2 interface, a Zoom microphone, with and ipod also attached, and connected to the ethernet. This is mostly to enable piano lessons with 2 views on Zoom, and also make recordings. It has all I need for this and more . (I'm not using any additional screens). I like the card reader and headphone jack- easy to use. I can't upgrade my OS, but it works fine with High Sierra. The Caldigit gets a bit warm but doesn't overheat. I unplug it when not in use. Altogether very handy and nice to have all my wires more or less connected to one source.

The TS3+ is my port (ha) in the storm that has been Apple’s “Dongle Lifestyle” since 2017. It works reliably with all my USB devices, network, DP monitors, and DVI display (using TB-to-DVI cable) under macOS, and I’ve yet to run into an issue with it in Windows. I’ve had one for work since ‘18 and when making a recent personal laptop purchase, I looked into other possibilities, but this won the day.

(Note that it’s not terribly portable, as its power supply can be charitably described as “enormous”. For portability, I went with its smaller sibling, CalDigit’s “SOHO Dock”.)

I had another thunderbolt 3 hub, that I like, but has been demoted to my travel hub (which was it's one pro over this one.) Plenty of inputs, and it charges my macbook pro too, so I can drop the charging cable, have a clean desktop and fewer ports taken up. Win win.
