The black Isomax 2 All-Purpose Microphone, Medium Gain with 3-Pin XLR Connector for Select 3-Pin XLR Devices from Countryman features a frequency-independent capsule that delivers tight pattern control as an all-around instrument microphone. It can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar, flute, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The Isomax 2 is built with exceptional gain before feedback and excellent rejection of the surrounding environment. It is lightweight, easy to use, and is designed to handle very-high sound pressure levels. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, basic clip, and carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a 3-Pin XLR connector for direct connection to select 3-Pin XLR mixers, recorders, and other devices with an XLR connection.

Inside or outside musical instruments, placed on or hung over stages, and hidden in sets for theater, motion pictures, and TV, the mic can also be used as an audience mic or stage floor mic.

The microphone is sleek, small, and lightweight and will not distract the instrumentalist or the public. It is easy to hang without scaffolding, which eliminates the risk of bulky equipment falling on performers.

Very-low distortion at high SPL levels encountered inside instruments. It offers an uncolored and clean sound with a superflat frequency response.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very-high rejection to sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. compatible with LUMIX S5IIx?

A: Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter is LUMIX GH5, GH5s, S1, S1R compatible.

Q: 2. greetings, is this product compatible with the lumix bgh1 camera? Thanks a lot

A: Yes here in the manual of the BGH1 on page 142 it lists DMW-XLR1 as compatible. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/703703.pdf

Q: 3. Does this record 2 channels of audio into the gh5? 1, being line One. 2, being line Two. Rather than baking both mics into a single track, so that way I can have better mixing control in editing.

A: Yes it records two separate channels . I used it yesterday for the first time, recording a wireless mic on channel 1 and a shotgun mic on channel two. I had flawless perfect audio.

Q: 4. Are there any sort of adapter cables available that offset this unit as it interferes with the cage handle?

A: The DMW-XLR1 XLR must be in the hot shoe of the GH5 in order to function. There is no way currently to allow it to be mounted elsewhere. All is not lost for you can consider an XLR Audio Adapter such as the Beachtek DXA-SLR Pure Passive Audio Adapter for DSLR Cameras B&H # BEDXASLRPURE. This can be mounted independently of the camera on the cage. Then you run a cable from it to the camera. Or you can consider a independent recorder that will give you the best possible sound. (The audio from it can also be recorded in the camera as well.) Here is one possibility. Tascam DR-60DmkII 4-Channel Portable Recorder for DSLR B&H # TADR60DMKII. Q: 5. Can I put a Rde blimp on this suspension?

A: Hi Steve. This is a Rycote product, and cannot therefore be used with a Rde Blimp basket. The technology behind the Lyres originates with Rycote; however, we have licensed Rde to manufacture their own version, and so the Lyre that comes with and fits the VideoMic and similar/other products is designed and manufactured entirely by them. Rycote's official Lyres and suspensions are not incorporated: any versions you see on Rde products are made by them using their own materials and production methods under license, and fit using a different mechanism. Hope that helps!

Q: 6. Will this work with G9?

A: Having just tested it right now, it does not recognize the DMW-XLR1. The contact count on the top of the camera is 2 pins lower than the GH5, GH5s S1, S1H and S5, all of which work fine with it.

Q: 7. Can you automatically match both channel gain simultaneously? to record stereo signal?

A: Set the audio dials to the same value.

Q: 8. Would this work on a Panasonic G9?

A: No

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the new S5ii and S5iix? Or is there a new model?

A: Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter BH #PADMWXLR1 is not compatible with S5II or S5IIx and it's compatible with LUMIX GH5, GH5s, S1, S1R.

Q: 10. Does this allow audio recording during VFR mode?

A: Sorry, audio recording is disabled when shooting at variable frame rates. If audio actually was recorded, it would be so slow as to be unusable. The audio you hear in films during slow motion sequences is created. I can say from many slo-mo shots I have participated on the sound generated in real time is not very interesting. However, you can then take that sound and create meaningful effects in your editing.
