Available as an electronic download, Audio Modeling SWAM Solo Trumpets is a virtual instrument plug-in developed to deliver five convincingly realistic virtual trumpets—flugelhorn, flugelhorn (Eb), trumpet (Bb), trumpet (C), and piccolo trumpet—for composers, producers, and performers in multiple genres. By using modeling instead of samples, it provides versatile timbres while imposing a low load on your system resources.

SWAM Solo Trumpets offers extensive real-time parameters such as dirtiness, attack tongue, pipe gesture, and mute control, which can be adjusted via external MIDI controllers or your DAW. It also features a built-in mixer with reverb and pan controls for enhancing the sound. SWAM Solo Trumpets is compatible with macOS and Windows systems and supports AAX, Audio Units, VST, and VST3 plug-in formats.

SWAM Engine digitally handcrafted acoustic instruments are never a simple recording of notes via sample libraries, but rather a set of real virtual instruments based on their traditional counterparts. While a sample library repeats a prerecorded sound, SWAM Trumpets are realized entirely with physical modeling.

Control the expression of your virtual acoustic instruments, break the limitations of traditional samplers, and benefit from the organic consistency resulting from the endless expressive parameters that are unique to every live performance.

SWAM Trumpets includes five expressive and realistic virtual trumpets including the mutes—flugelhorn, flugelhorn (Eb), trumpet (Bb), trumpet (C), and piccolo trumpet. SWAM technology guarantees the same natural reactions as real instruments, letting you compose and arrange your jazz, orchestral pieces, or concertos utilizing powerful instruments with natural, fluid expression.

Choose SWAM Trumpets for composing, producing, or performing. All articulations typical of this instrument can be reproduced in real time by acting on its main physical elements such as pipe length, breath pressure, and lip tension. Independent control of the valves allows both half-valve transitions and ones typically triggered with overtones in glissandos or broad vibratos.

Control the following parameters in real time via MIDI controllers or your DAW:

  • Expression (dynamic)
  • Note transitions (staccato/legato/portamento) with no key switches
  • Vibrato depth (from regular to shake)
  • Vibrato rate
  • Portamento time
  • Growl
  • Flutter tongue
  • Breath noise
  • Dirtiness
  • Sustain
  • Mute control (wah/hand)
  • Attack noise on piannissimo
  • Attack tongue
  • Reactivity
  • Mutes
  • Pipe gesture
  • Half-valve amount
  • Valves and slide position
  • Dynamic pitch
  • Microtuning
  • Main volume
  • Pan pot
  • Reverb mix

Tired of giga-sized libraries of prerecorded audio and the limitations of traditional samplers? SWAM Trumpets is the solution. It was developed by Audio Modeling using SWAM Technology (Synchronous Waves Acoustic Modeling) through a combination of innovative performance techniques and concepts of physical and behavioral modeling. SWAM Trumpets instruments don't include any samples and use very little storage space and RAM.

Real-time controllable via MIDI controllers, SWAM Trumpets requires only the smallest footprint to create the perfect organic consistency resulting from the endless expressive parameters that are unique to every live performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used with pocket wizards?

A: You may use the PocketWizard PlusX 2 Pack B&H # WIPWPX2P, which includes a miniphone to miniphone cable to connect to the SF-ABRL160. An image is shown below.

Q: 2. What on this device controls the zoom? Is it the knob near the top or does the handle turn like a motorcycle throttle? It seems awkward to me to use the knob at the top while panning or titling, but the handle turn would work well.

A: If you are referring to the tiny knob at the top of the control panel, that is for adjusting the speed of whatever you are controlling. The switch on the right side switches from Zoom to focus control. The butterfly wheel at the back by the handle controls the zoom/focus. The handle does not spin!

Q: 3. What is the lumen output of the LED modeling lamp?

A: The LED modeling light is approximately 200 Lumens.

Q: 4. what is the purpose/benefit of having the the modeling light with the strobe?

A: Strobes are great for lighting a subject with a good white-balance that continuous lighting will provide, but with a little more difficulty. Continuous lights give you What You See Is What You Get images, which can work for what you're going for, but a strobe helps make the light source a primary source for you camera to use for white balance and exposure in general. Technology exists where you can get continuous lights to be powerful enough to light up the environment as you like, strobes help when you need a powerful light source working on top of natural light in the ambience.

Q: 5. How many settings are there to reduce the light output? Thanks!

A: The fixture has a three position switch. High, low, and off.

Q: 6. Does this work for the Sony FS7?

A: According to the compatibility chart, this remote is compatible with the Sony PXW-FS7

Q: 7. I currently use a pair of PW PlusX to sync my Canon 1Ds3 to Profoto Acute2 and Profoto Compact monolight. I'd like to utilize higher sync speeds and do not need TTL, just manual settings. Do I need just one FlexTT5 to go with my PlusX or do I need a pair?

A: You will need the PW MiniTT1 or a FlexTT5 for the camera and two TT5's for your lights, once you setup the TT1 or TT5 (on camera) & TT5 on your lights you will be able to do the HSS. TTL works good & manual is just as good in the right settings. Hope this works for you.

Q: 8. Can this be used with a beauty dish? And if so, what would I need to put the dish on?

A: Unfortunately, this flash cannot accept a beauty dish.

Q: 9. What do the I & II markers mean?

A: The 'I' marker refers to the light being set at full power while the 'II' marker refers to the light being set at half power.

Q: 10. What is the sync voltage to trigger this flash?

A: I plug the SF-ABRL into the wall socket which is 110 volts. I use a transmitter and receiver set up on the hot shoe of my Nikon. The receiver is connected on my main light. I set the SF-ABRL to receive the flash output from the main light. The sync voltage at this point, after receiving the flash, and setting off the flash of the SF-ABRL would need to be pretty miniscule as it is only a triggering device to make the unit flash, as the flash itself is powered by the 110 volt electric current. I do not know the sync voltage that triggers the switch to fire the flash as it is all electronic, but I'm sure you could find out by calling the manufacturer.
