Inside or outside musical instruments, placed on or hung over stages, and hidden in sets for theater, motion pictures, and TV, the mic can also be used as an audience mic or stage floor mic.
The microphone is sleek, small, and lightweight and will not distract the instrumentalist or the public. It is easy to hang without scaffolding, which eliminates the risk of bulky equipment falling on performers.
Very-low distortion at high SPL levels encountered inside instruments. It offers an uncolored and clean sound with a superflat frequency response.
A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very-high rejection to sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is that 4 pound listed weight includes the ball head or is it just for the tripod legs?
A: The four pound weight is just for the legs.
Q: 2. Can the mic bracket be removed?
A: The included bracket cannot be removed, but the foot on the stand can be removed to allow this product to mount to a standard boom arm. Thank you for shopping at B&H!
Q: 3. Can I use this nodal slide with Really Right Stuff PG-01 Compact Pano-Gimbal Head with Lever-Release Clamp, and Leveling Base?
A: Yes, since both are arca-swiss compatible. However, the general consensus is that it's recommend that you use their own nodal slide due to slight variations in arca-swiss plate specifications. There is a PG-01 kit that comes with a nodal slide as well, albeit slightly shorter, here https://bhpho.to/3bNW28c
Q: 4. question to the audio experts out there. I noticed a big price difference. So is the NTG3 better than the NTG4+?
A: Well they're different in many ways. The NTG3 requires Phantom power to work, the noise floor is less and it sounds cleaner. The NTG4+ can work with the internal battery, which lasts a lot and it is really impressive, that also helps cause your recorder battery will last more. But the NTG4 requires more gain from the preamp so it can get a bit noisier. So, yes the Ntg 3 sounds better, but I would say you have to think what could work better with the gear you already have and the type of work you'll do.
Q: 5. Will this work to record audience responses in a 50 ft wide x 80 foot long building if it's mounted at one end?
A: The NTG3B is a great mic, but it is directional and has a narrow field for pickup. Additionally, it is not intended for use from that far of a distance. The mic should be positioned much closer to the audience and if you are recording the audience as a group, rather than recording individual people, a stereo mic would be a better choice since it has a wider field for pickup. Depending on the size of the audience and characteristics of the room, you may want to use more than one microphone positioned above them. It would be useful to have more information and to be able to communicate with you directly to best assist you in selecting an appropriate microphone or microphones for your application, as well as to be able to offer suggestions for where to place the mic(s).. Q: 6. Is this camera have internal recording capacity? If not that means recording out of the second SDI at effect 8bit 422... Why "gain" higher ISO sensitivity compared to the C100 Mark II?
A: This camera does not have internal recording capabilities. However it does output 422 10-Bit through SDI and is a high sensitivity camera that can go up to 204,800 ISO.
Q: 7. Does this fit in the Sony FS5 mount holder out of the box?
A: This mic should the camera's microphone mount fairly snugly - right out of the box.
Q: 8. Can I plug the NTG3 directly into the canon 5d Mark iv?
A: No. The NTG3 requires phantom power which the camera does not provide so you will need to use an adapter that will power the mic. The Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO (B&H # BEDXAMICROP) will supply phantom power and also has a high quality preamp built in. Many recorders and mixers will also supply phantom power. Please feel free to contact us if you would like further assistance.
Q: 9. is it same image quality as c100 m2?same af performance?what is the battery life per charge?
A: The basic specs for the sensor of this camera and the C100 Mark II are Super35 and 9.84 MP. The ME200S-SH does have twice the high ISO performance at 204,800. The image quality should be comparable. The ME200S-SH does have Dual Pixel focus and we assume that it has the same outstanding AF performance as other Canon Dual Pixel Auto Focus equipped AF camera. You also focus using the one shot button on the camera or with the Canon RC-V100 Remote Controller. Lastly, this camera is meant really for permanent installations and thus does not have a battery internally or directly attached. It takes power from an external battery or an AC power adapter.
Q: 10. What thread type is the mic holder that comes in the set? Trying to mount it to a 5/8 thread mic stand
A: yes it is 5/8
