The black B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone, Very Low Sensitivity, with Hardwired 3.5mm Locking Connector for Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom Portable Recorders from Countryman is a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter. It can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, house of worship, and general lavalier applications.

This version is the least sensitive mic and a good choice for instrument applications, opera, or where the microphone will be positioned very near the mouth. Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in a performer's hair or on costumes, ties, or behind a shirt button. It can also be attached to eyeglasses, for a secure, discreet, and convenient alternative to hair miking. The ultrathin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's aramid-reinforced cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom DM-420, DM-520, DM-620, DS-2400, DS-40, DS-51, DS-61, DS-71, LS-10, LS-14, R05, R09HR, PCM-D50, PCM-M10, DR-05, DR-07mkII, DR-08, PR-10, Pocketrak C24, Pocketrak W24, H1, H2, and H2n portable recorders.

Additionally, the included swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with a protective cap, which can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat-frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Very low, mic near user's mouth.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I plug this into an Amp or the line out of a speaker? Would that be too much voltage?

A: You can send the output from the F2 to the line input of an amp or powered speaker. The input on the F2 is intended for use with a microphone and not a line level signal from an amplifier or speaker. In order to connect a line level signal to the mic input on the F2, you would need to use a line-to-mic level attenuator and possibly other adapters to provide compatibility.

Q: 2. Can I use the Mic input to record audio from output of any Aux out of a mixer, ? or would i need an adapter for that input?

A: In order to record audio from the aux output of a mixer on the Zoom F2 Portable Field Recorder, you will need to use a combination of adapters. The 3.5mm input on the F2 uses a locking connector and it accepts mic level signal, so you will need to use a line-to-mic attenuator to convert the line level output from the mixer to a mic level signal. If the mixer has a 3.5mm TRS aux output, you can use the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON), then add on a female coupler like the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H # HOASMFSMF). Finally, to connect to the locking input on the F2, attach the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Cable (B&H # SECL1).

Q: 3. Does the bluetooth model enable control of multiple units at the same time? Or is it just able to connect to one recorder at a time?

A: It will only record to one recorder at a time.

Q: 4. Could you put this recorder and mic on a table and record an interview or group conversation with a single mic and device?

A: Yes, but you will need to use a different microphone. The Olympus ME-33 Boundary Microphone (B&H #OLME33) is a boundary microphone that is designed to pickup conversation from a group of people. It operates using plug-in power and has a 3.5mm connector on the attached cable. Since the F2 has a locking 3.5mm input, you will need to use an adapter that has the same type of connector such as the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable (B&H #SECL1). You can join the CL1 with the mic's cable using a Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H #HOASMFSMF).

Q: 5. Can you have 2 mics recording at once with this device for an interview?

A: No. This will ony allow recording form one microphone.

Q: 6. Is there a good waterproof microphone and a good waterproof bag that the needed wire could feed through? I need this for onwater recording (mainly canoe, possibly windsurfing)

A: There are several options for waterproof and water-resistant microphones that we typically have available in stock and others that are available by special order. The Point Source Audio Series8 CO-8WL Omnidirectional Waterproof Lavalier Microphone - Beige (B&H# POCO8WLXSEBE) is a true IP57 rated waterproof mic that would be a good option. The Countryman B3 Omni Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters - Black (B&H# COB3W4BSR) is a good option for a water-resistant mic that's IP67 rated and can be used for water sports as well as reporting during a hurricane. Countryman's EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Flat Frequency Response for Sennheiser Transmitters - Black (B&H# COMEMWFBSR) is also IP67 rated. The Voice Technologies VT500WATER Waterproof Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Mini Connector, Black - (B&H# VOVT0155) is IPX7 rated and is available by special order. We also have a Deity Microphones W.Lav Pro DA35 Bundle Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter - Beige (B&H# DEWLAVPROD35) in stock which is IP57 waterproof rated, but it uses an adapter that sticks out and adds additional width. You may be able to use a small waterproof neoprene Zing Designs Camera Pouch (B&H# ZICPSB) which has an internal bag with a corded pull closure and additional flap that secures with a hook-and-loop fastener. The pouch has a belt loop and the pull closure cord also functions as a neck strap to provide different options to secure it. You should be able to feed the mic cable through the top of the pouch and under the flap. Dimensions of the F2 are 2.3 x 1.8 x 0.9" and the small Zing pouch is 3.75 x 2.75 x 1.5". This should provide sufficient protection from splashes though I would not recommend allowing it to become fully submerged. Please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 7. Can the 32 bit be edited properly using adobe premiere?

A: Yes. Adobe offers 32 Bit Floating Point Audio.

Q: 8. The included mic has decent gain. My TR-50 lavs barely move the meter and the waveform doesn't even show audio. When I normalize the audio is there, I know this is 32 bit floating point, but I'd like to have at least some normal input level. Is the answer to only use their included lav?

A: Yes this Mic is pretty good will get the job done! for Blogeer or interview

Q: 9. re: 32bit. The input mic says 105db. If you get a different mic capable of higher db, will the input still be distortion free? say, if you are recording something at 140 db, like a loud concert, or a jet show, w/ a low flyby. Just because the recorder is capable of capturing at that bit rate & resolution, many x's the pre-amps are not capable of utilizing the spec's/dynamics, sometimes related to s/n ratio & it's rated max db level.

A: Since this is a new product that is not out yet these specs have not been tested in the real world yet. I can not guarentee an answer at this time.

Q: 10. What's the Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) ? Thanks

A: The manufacturer has not specified what the EIN is for the Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder with Lavalier Microphone.
