The black Isomax 2 All-Purpose Microphone, Low Gain with TA4F Connector for Shure MXW1 and MXW1/0=-Z11 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a frequency-independent capsule that delivers tight pattern control as an all-around instrument microphone. It can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar, flute, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The Isomax 2 is built with exceptional gain before feedback and excellent rejection of the surrounding environment. It is lightweight, easy to use, and is designed to handle very-high sound pressure levels. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, basic clip, and carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a TA4F connector for direct connection to Shure MXW1 and MXW1/0=-Z11 wireless bodypack transmitters.

Inside or outside musical instruments, placed on or hung over stages, and hidden in sets for theater, motion pictures, and TV, the mic can also be used as an audience mic or stage floor mic.

The microphone is sleek, small, and lightweight and will not distract the instrumentalist or the public. It is easy to hang without scaffolding, which eliminates the risk of bulky equipment falling on performers.

Very-low distortion at high SPL levels encountered inside instruments. It offers an uncolored and clean sound with a superflat frequency response.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very-high rejection to sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to record actors voices on set and on location with my Sennheisers with a recorder that can be mounted on the camera or on the tripod with the camera. Is the Zoom H6 appropriate to the job?

A: Yes, absolutely. The H6 has a built-in 1/4"-20 female mounting thread on the bottom which can be used to mount the recorder on a camera or to attach the H6 directly onto a tripod or stand by itself. For mounting the H6 to a camera, you can use a shoe mount adapter like the Revo Hot Shoe to 1/4"-20 Male Post Adapter (B&H # RESACS14M). If you are going to be using wireless microphones and also need to mount the wireless receivers on your camera, you can use a V-style shoe mount bracket like the Vello V-Rig 4.1" Triple Shoe Bracket (B&H #VECB415).

Q: 2. In the overview it says the unit has phantom power for all main inputs. But in the demo video he says the unit does not come with phantom power! So which is true? Does it come with phantom power or not?

A: Phantom power is provided to the XLR mic inputs of this recorder as listed in the specifications on our web page for this recorder:Phantom Power +12V /+24V /+48V, independent (INPUTS 1 to 4)2.5V plug-in power, (XYH-6 MIC/LINE IN)

Q: 3. Does the Zoom H6 Recorder Podcast Kit with 1 enCORE Microphone come with both products in their individual boxes? Anyone know the quality of the XLR cable included? Thank you.

A: Everything will come in its original packaging from the manufacturer. The quality of the XLR cable is the second best in the product line and will work great for most aplications.

Q: 4. How to set up different phantom power to mic 1 to 4, ie, 12V to mic 1, and 48 V to mic 2, 3, and 4?

A: You can find the instructions for how to set up phantom power on each input on page 87 of the user manual for the Zoom H6 Handy Recorder: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/534154.pdf

Q: 5. in usb interface mode, how many channels / tracks can be recorded simultaneously?

A: You can select to send either the stereo mix or 6 channel audio to the computer in interface mode. The default is stereo.

Q: 6. Van I use this recorder with my Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun mic?

A: The Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule (Black), BH # ZOH6B, may be used with the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun microphone.

Q: 7. Can Zoom H5/H6 monitor both {mic inputs + Windows 10} simultaneously? I'd like to use XLR mics in my remote (virtual) presentations/meetings. I want to hear both myself (from the mic) and other attendees (system sound from Windows). In USB/interface mode, does the H5/H6 monitor jack simultaneously output (mix?) both my mic and Windows system sounds? Is that standard "interface" behavior? Do the H5 and H6 behave the same in this regard? (P.S. I wish to avoid "looping" or "overdubbing" or 3rd party mixers.) Thank you all kindly in advance.

A: Yes, but most video meeting software do not give you an option to monitor your own microphone signal.

Q: 8. Does the H6 black have the same timecode feature as the H5? To output audio to the camera via line out 6400line in (ie Sony a6400) ? As well as sync with cameras timecode for post production purposes? I believe the H5 has this option? Where could I read up on this? I’m just getting into all of this. Hoping the post production process will be fairly straight forward.

A: The H6 and H5 have the same time code basically you would connect a Attenuator cable from the output of the recorder into your camera and it sends a secondary to your camera then you sync the audio with video in post,

Q: 9. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx

A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 10. When I used it in my room ( it has very low echo ) but after recording I didn't get clear sound , is using the microphone windscreen will make it better ?

A: If your audio has a lot of rumbling and low frequency noise, or a lot of plosive noise coming from the mouth, a windscreen can help. If you are having other problems in the recording, there may be other issues with your setup causing that, and a windscreen will not help.
