The black Isomax 2 All-Purpose Microphone, Low Gain with 2.5mm Waterproof Locking Connector for Lectrosonics WM Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a frequency-independent capsule that delivers tight pattern control as an all-around instrument microphone. It can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar, flute, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.

The Isomax 2 is built with exceptional gain before feedback and excellent rejection of the surrounding environment. It is lightweight, easy to use, and is designed to handle very-high sound pressure levels. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, basic clip, and carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a 2.5mm waterproof locking connector for direct connection to Lectrosonics WM wireless bodypack transmitters.

Inside or outside musical instruments, placed on or hung over stages, and hidden in sets for theater, motion pictures, and TV, the mic can also be used as an audience mic or stage floor mic.

The microphone is sleek, small, and lightweight and will not distract the instrumentalist or the public. It is easy to hang without scaffolding, which eliminates the risk of bulky equipment falling on performers.

Very-low distortion at high SPL levels encountered inside instruments. It offers an uncolored and clean sound with a superflat frequency response.

A microphone with a figure-8 (bidirectional) pickup pattern is sensitive to sound coming from the front and coming from the rear, but has a very-high rejection to sound coming from the sides. Great for mid/side and Blumlein stereo applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this no longer come with a hard plastic case, foam windscreen, and mid-side mic capsule?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: 2. Is there a Zoom model that will ALLOW external mic with a 3.5 mm jack WITHOUT bypassing on-board mics? So 2 mics sources for recording (to a dSLR)?

A: No. The 3.5mm jack will always disable the onboard mics. You can connect your 3.5mm into the XLR with an adapter, like the RODE VXLR, Use the VXLR+ if the mic requires plug in power.

Q: 3. how many headphone jacks does the zoom h6 have? I would like to use it for on-the-go interviews for a podcast but I need the hosts to be able to listen and monitor themselves with headphones

A: The Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule has 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output. With multiple listeners, a headphone splitter could be used. Conversely, a podcast-focused device such as the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder(BH #ZOPTP4PCREC) provides a similar amount of microphone inputs and four individual headphone output connections: https://bhpho.to/3GBmyj3

Q: 4. Does the maximum allowable input level of +22 dBu (PAD ON) for inputs 1-4 apply to TRS only, or XLR as well? In other words, can the XLR inputs handle line level?

A: The Zoom H6 does take line level signal. You can apply the pad to XLR or 1/4'' signal coming in.

Q: 5. Can Zoom H5/H6 monitor both {mic inputs + Windows 10} simultaneously? I'd like to use XLR mics in my remote (virtual) presentations/meetings. I want to hear both myself (from the mic) and other attendees (system sound from Windows). In USB/interface mode, does the H5/H6 monitor jack simultaneously output (mix?) both my mic and Windows system sounds? Is that standard "interface" behavior? Do the H5 and H6 behave the same in this regard? (P.S. I wish to avoid "looping" or "overdubbing" or 3rd party mixers.) Thank you all kindly in advance.

A: Yes, but most video meeting software do not give you an option to monitor your own microphone signal.

Q: 6. Can it record internally and output audio to a PC through the USB output?

A: Yes. Just to make sure I'm understanding the question correctly: I almost daily use this device to record professional voiceovers, using both the attached condenser mic and xlr attached sennheiser, while running it feed out directly via USB to my Mac and capture using Abobe Audition in real time. It even runs on phantom power via the USB without you having to prompt it to so you don't kill the batteries as fast as when using it standalone. [Not sure how well phantom power to external mics work and if the USB will cover those, I only have self-powered external mics]. I remember to write almost no user reviews or answer questions but in this case I had to because I cannot recommend this device enough. For under 500 the H6 captures network quality sound both ambient and input and at a price point that you're willing to use it for every type of field grunt work.

Q: 7. Can I connect and use the Zoom H6 as an external mic on my Canon R5?

A: Yes, the headphone output connection of the Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder can be connected and feed signal to the 3.5mm microphone input connection on the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera using a cable such as the Whirlwind WHH4NL3.5 Line-to-Microphone Attenuator Cable for HDSLR Cameras (BH #WHH4NL3.5): https://bhpho.to/3ETHm7Y

Q: 8. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx

A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 9. If the dials control the trim (what is recorded), how do we also set the mix levels sent to the 1/8" line-out for a live mix?

A: The dials on the face of the Zoom H6 Recorder control input gain. You can create a mix by using the project mixer on the H6's touch screen.

Q: 10. Does the zoom h6 have zero latency monitoring through the headphone jack?

A: The Zoom H6 does offer latency free monitoring in both standalone and USB interface modes.
