The black Isomax 2 All-Purpose Microphone, Standard Gain with TA3F Connector for Audix B60 Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a frequency-independent capsule that delivers tight pattern control as an all-around instrument microphone. It can be used to capture audio in sound reinforcement applications for saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, acoustic guitar, flute, piano, brass, and percussion instruments.
The Isomax 2 is built with exceptional gain before feedback and excellent rejection of the surrounding environment. It is lightweight, easy to use, and is designed to handle very-high sound pressure levels. It is supplied with a foam windscreen, basic clip, and carrying case. In addition, the 5' cable is permanently attached to the mic and terminates to a TA3F connector for direct connection to Audix B60 wireless bodypack transmitters.

Inside or outside musical instruments, placed on or hung over stages, and hidden in sets for theater, motion pictures, and TV, the mic can also be used as an audience mic or stage floor mic.
The microphone is sleek, small, and lightweight and will not distract the instrumentalist or the public. It is easy to hang without scaffolding, which eliminates the risk of bulky equipment falling on performers.
Very-low distortion at high SPL levels encountered inside instruments. It offers an uncolored and clean sound with a superflat frequency response.
The cardioid polar pattern is effective for picking up sound directly in front of the microphone and is less sensitive to sound directly behind the microphone. It picks up about 1/3 less ambient noise than the omnidirectional polar pattern, so the working distance (the distance a performer could be positioned from the microphone) is approximately 1.7 times that of the omni. The cardioid pattern works best when you can position the microphone directly towards the sound you wish to record (a lead singer, for example) and directly away from unwanted sound sources like a crowd or a loud monitor.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work to record audience responses in a 50 ft wide x 80 foot long building if it's mounted at one end?
A: The NTG3B is a great mic, but it is directional and has a narrow field for pickup. Additionally, it is not intended for use from that far of a distance. The mic should be positioned much closer to the audience and if you are recording the audience as a group, rather than recording individual people, a stereo mic would be a better choice since it has a wider field for pickup. Depending on the size of the audience and characteristics of the room, you may want to use more than one microphone positioned above them. It would be useful to have more information and to be able to communicate with you directly to best assist you in selecting an appropriate microphone or microphones for your application, as well as to be able to offer suggestions for where to place the mic(s).. Please contact our pro audio specialists by phone or through live chat on the website and we will be happy to help.
Q: 2. When I used it in my room ( it has very low echo ) but after recording I didn't get clear sound , is using the microphone windscreen will make it better ?
A: If your audio has a lot of rumbling and low frequency noise, or a lot of plosive noise coming from the mouth, a windscreen can help. If you are having other problems in the recording, there may be other issues with your setup causing that, and a windscreen will not help. Please contact us at audio@bhphoto.com , call in by phone, or chat with us, so we can help you get the most out of your Rode NTG3 microphone.
Q: 3. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx
A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Q: 4. how many headphone jacks does the zoom h6 have? I would like to use it for on-the-go interviews for a podcast but I need the hosts to be able to listen and monitor themselves with headphones
A: The Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule has 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output. With multiple listeners, a headphone splitter could be used. Conversely, a podcast-focused device such as the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder(BH #ZOPTP4PCREC) provides a similar amount of microphone inputs and four individual headphone output connections: https://bhpho.to/3GBmyj3
Q: 5. Is there a Zoom model that will ALLOW external mic with a 3.5 mm jack WITHOUT bypassing on-board mics? So 2 mics sources for recording (to a dSLR)?
A: No. The 3.5mm jack will always disable the onboard mics. You can connect your 3.5mm into the XLR with an adapter, like the RODE VXLR, Use the VXLR+ if the mic requires plug in power.
Q: 6. What's the difference between the NTG3 & the NTG8? And which is better??
A: The NTG3 and NTG8 are similar in internal components and both offer great sound quality. The difference in the mics is the length of the interference tube. The NTG8 being a longer mic at 22 vs the NTG3 at 10 inches. The longer tube is directly related to the directionality in capture for use in applications where a tight pickup pattern or recording from a distance is required.
Q: 7. Does the Zoom H6 accept Sony XQD cards?
A: No, the Zoom H6 Portable Recorder will not accept Sony XQD Memory Cards. The H6 will work with the following card types and sizes: SD (16 MB to 2 GB) SDHC (4 to 32 GB) SDXC (64 to 128 GB)
Q: 8. Is this an H6 or H6n? What's the difference?
A: This is the Zoom H6. There is no Zoom H6n.
Q: 9. How to set up different phantom power to mic 1 to 4, ie, 12V to mic 1, and 48 V to mic 2, 3, and 4?
A: You can find the instructions for how to set up phantom power on each input on page 87 of the user manual for the Zoom H6 Handy Recorder: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/534154.pdf
Q: 10. can I use this with a usb mic?
A: No, the Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule will not support a connection from a USB microphone. In general, USB microphones are limited to direct connection to a computer.
