The black B6 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone, Very Low Sensitivity, with Detachable LEMO 4-Pin Connector for Beyerdynamic Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter. It can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, house of worship, and general lavalier applications.
This version is the least sensitive mic and a good choice for instrument applications, opera, or where the microphone will be positioned very near the mouth. Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in a performer's hair or on costumes, ties, or behind a shirt button. It can also be attached to eyeglasses, for a secure, discreet, and convenient alternative to hair miking. The ultrathin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's aramid-reinforced cable terminates to a LEMO 4-pin connector for direct connection to Beyerdynamic TS-170, TS-170p, VHF TS-190, and TSP wireless bodypack transmitters.
Additionally, the included swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with a protective cap, which can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.
The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.
The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat-frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Q: 1. Can any one recommend a shotgun mic for me to best work with this device? (under $400) Right now, I am looking at NTG2 and MKE600, which one is better? Or any other suggestions. The use of the mic will be very mixed. voice over, conversations, field recording...Thanks a lot.
A: In a quiet room set up close to the speaker, yes, it's a very good mic. I use it for street interviews, and back up audio in controlled environment interviews (indoors).
Q: 2. Anyone using this device for documentary production? What are the best recording gain and volume for this device for interviews and following characters in a documentary? I just tried testing Ch1 with a Sennheiser wireless lav,ME2, and the gain was set to Medium in the Tascam DR-70D, the volume knobs set in the middle and the I was watching the triangle in the LCD to stay up to that volume level. I took the recorded audio to Premiere and the audio waveform is kind of low. What happens if the volume in the triangle gets pass this and the knobs are higher? And what happens if the Gain is set to High instead? Would I get audio noise of any kind? Thank you for your answers!
A: The triangle you mentioned is the -18dB mark, the next mark is the -6dB. So make sure your recordings are between here. The next mark is -3dB you don't want to go beyond it. But in case if the sound goes beyond -3dB slightly it can still be recovered. At the bottom left corner, you can see the dB readings as the meter bars move.
Q: 3. Can I put another trs mic in the camera input?
A: You can, but the camera will, in that case, only capture the audio from the additional microphone and the Tascam recorder will record all of your other microphones. It would be best to consider a mini to XLR adapter to connect your TRS mic. If that TRS mic requires mic plugin power, you can use an adapter that will convert phantom power from the recorder, to mic plugin power for that compatibility, like the B&H # DEDXLR.
Q: 4. Hello, the audio recorder seems to be separating each track into a different file, is there a way to avoid this while recording or do it in post? Thanks
A: Hi Carlos- If you're only recording mono, i.e. one single mic, just turn off any channels you don't want to record. Likewise for stereo recording; just turn off any channel(s) without input. (Menu/Basic/Record...) Otherwise, these devices by default record individual files for every track- this is the typical workaround for the limitations with recording audio on DSLR cameras. When I edit with multiple files like this (e.g.: a-Sound on one channel-Nat sound on another), I generally do a sub-edit in one sequence, and copy/paste those edited clips into the master edit. You could also sync the video and related audio channels in one sequence, then export the whole thing as a self-contained file with whatever audio config you want (1ch stereo, 2 monos, etc.). When you bring that clip back into your project, it would then have the audio embedded with the video. Hope that helps...
Q: 5. Any infomation on included accessories such as eye pieces, diagonal and view finder would be helpful. It seems that a 25mm eye piece is included. Is this eye piece similar in quality to the omni eye pc range? Woild a 5mm eye piece be to strong magnification in general for this scope?
A: In the box: 25mm 1.25 " Eyepiece 6x30mm LER Finderscope Finderscope Bracket Combination 1.25 " & T-Thread Adapter With this scope the highest magnification I would recommend is a 4mm eyepiece 1.25 " 90-Degree Mirror Diagonal Dovetail Mounting Plate Tripod with Accessory Tray 7 lbs Counterweight 4 lb Counterweight The Sky CD-ROM Software for Windows 2-Year Warranty
Q: 6. Hello , I recently bought a Tascam dr 70d in bhphotoand I want to know how? to monitor independent mics entries in record mode and pause mode1.01 0044
A: there is no switch to play the tracks separately, which is a shame ...Looking forward to the next generation
Q: 7. Power cable besides batteries?
A: An AC power adapter/cable is not included. The included USB cable may be used with this optional adapter that is available at an additional cost:The PS-P515U AC to USB Power Adapter from Tascam is a convenient adapter that allows you to power a USB device from an AC power outlet. It is ideal for portable audio recorders, allowing you to run them for hours without worrying about battery life.
Q: 8. About how long does it run on batteries (for both running it without phantom power and when running it on phantom power to 1 mic)?
A: Kathryn,The available information on this subject is covered on p.22 of the Owner's Manual:a href= http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads/ target= _blank http://tascam.com/product/dr-70d/downloads//aThe Battery operation time numbers are derived using the specific batteries indicated.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.
Q: 9. How does the chromatic aberration of this telescope compare to the Omni 102 XLT? What options are there to mitigate the CA for viewing?
A: Every optical tube will have a degree of chromatic aberration. For me the best way I found to reduce it is by upgrading my eyepiece. I prefer the Celestron Omni XLT 120mm f/8.3 EQ Refractor Telescope BH #CEOXLT120K • MFR #21090 for its lower Focal Ratio and brighter image
Q: 10. Has anyone tried the built-in mic? Is it good? Compare to the Zoom H6's built-in mic? Thanks
A: Its not bad! I wouldn't use it as a primary mic, but its good for nat sound and stuff like that. Its a little better than the h4n built in mic. I havent used the h6
