The white B2D Directional Lavalier Mic, Low Gain, with Hardwired 3.5mm Locking Connector Cable for Senal Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a lightweight 0.18-ounce body that was designed to be discreetly mounted and can be used for miking news anchors, actors in a film or theater setting, lecturers in a school or house of worship type environment.

The B2D's tight hypercardioid pattern gives the mic an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omnidirectional lavalier mic, which means less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations when using multiple microphones.

This version offers the lowest gain for powerful vocals such as in opera, which requires a higher overload level. In addition, the B2D lavalier is equipped with a hardwired cable that terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Senal AWS-2000T wireless bodypack transmitters.

With its small size and sensitivity options, the B2D can easily hide behind a shirt button. This makes it invisible for film work, theater, live shows, or any other application.

Natural vocal reproduction and a tight polar pattern make the B2D ideal for broadcast and is a dependable workhorse you can count on to perform night after night.

The isolation clips minimize clothing and vibration noise while allowing 360° of rotation for easy positioning of the microphone.

This microphone is tuned to a frequency response that is natural and intelligible at a wide range of distances from the mouth. It delivers wonderful sound quality on the chest (8-10" from the mouth) or towards the collar (3-4").

Low (blue band, -20 dB re W4) for operatic vocals

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i add rode videomic ntg on this?

A: Yes, you can use a standard TRS cable for the 3.5mm output. Since the F2 has a locking connector, use a cable like the Sennheiser CL1 3.5mm to 3.5mm Output Cable for EW Series Camera-Mount Receiver (B&H# SECL1) which has a non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector on one side and a locking 3.5mm TRS connector for the recorder's input. This cable is 20" long but you can use a standard aux extension cable like the Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Female Audio Cable - 10' (B&H# HOSMMSMF10) or any similar cable in the length you need. Connect the male end to the mic's output and the female end will connect to extend the length of the cable connected to the F2's locking input.

Q: 2. would this be able to record off a dj soundboard?

A: The Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder is intended for use with a microphone for recording mic level signal. A mixer's output signal is line level. In order to connect a mixer to the input of the F2, you will need to use adapters as well as a line-to-mic attenuator. Since the F2 has a locking 3.5mm TRS input, you can use the Sennheiser CL-1 Cable (B&H # SECL1), which has a locking 3.5mm TRS male connector on one side and a standard non-locking 3.5mm TRS male connector on the other side. Then, you can attach a coupler like the Hosa Technology GMM303 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini to 3.5mm Female Stereo Mini Adapter (B&H # HOASMFSMF). Since many DJ mixers have RCA output, you can use the Sescom Attenuating Line to Mic Level Cable - TRS Male to Male RCA, 18" (B&H # SES43DBMZ2P), which has a built-in attenuator to convert the line level signal from the mixer to mic level while also providing connections to the mixer's RCA output.

Q: 3. Will this act as an audio input device via the usb?

A: No, the F2 does not function as an audio input device like a USB audio interface. When connected to a computer via USB, the F2 can transfer files and you can also control the F2's settings while using the F2 Editor app. The USB port can also be used with Zoom's AD-17 adapter for AC power.

Q: 4. Is that 4 pound listed weight includes the ball head or is it just for the tripod legs?

A: The four pound weight is just for the legs.

Q: 5. The Zoom F2 records in mono only, is that correct? So only 1 channel can be recorded, right?

A: Correct! The Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder with Lavalier Microphone (BH #ZOF) records mono tracks only. It records the same mono audio on both the left and right channels with the included single-element microphone.

Q: 6. Can it work with a Sanken COS-11D lav mic?

A: No, the Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone is not compatible for use with the Zoom F2 Field Recorder. The mic requires 3 to 10V of plug-in power and the recorder can only supply 2.5V.

Q: 7. re: 32bit. The input mic says 105db. If you get a different mic capable of higher db, will the input still be distortion free? say, if you are recording something at 140 db, like a loud concert, or a jet show, w/ a low flyby. Just because the recorder is capable of capturing at that bit rate & resolution, many x's the pre-amps are not capable of utilizing the spec's/dynamics, sometimes related to s/n ratio & it's rated max db level.

A: Since this is a new product that is not out yet these specs have not been tested in the real world yet. I can not guarentee an answer at this time.

Q: 8. Is it arca-swiss compatible with the peak designs capture clip v-3 plate and does the clamp have a lock pin?

A: Generally arca swiss standard parts are compatible. However, this combination is unknown so we cannot guarantee the compatibility. There is a quick release safety lock.

Q: 9. Can you have 2 mics recording at once with this device for an interview?

A: No. This will ony allow recording form one microphone.

Q: 10. What's the Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) ? Thanks

A: The manufacturer has not specified what the EIN is for the Zoom F2 Ultracompact Portable Field Recorder with Lavalier Microphone.

I recently purchased the Sonos Play 5 to connect with both Spotify/ Streaming and to a record player. First off, the sound is fantastic. I am really happy with the look and sound of this unit. Second, the record player was easy to connect and really makes me feel like I am getting the most out of the unit I purchased. I plan to continue adding on to this Sonos in the near future.

We use this as background music, especially when watching sports - nothing like classical music to watch baseball and football by! We love the ease of turning it on and adjusting volume by using the iPad. The selections of radio stations was great.

I listen to all types of music from Classic Rock to Jazz to Big Bands to contemporary. They are pricey however I was always tought you get what you pay for. I looked and listened to Sonos, Bose and a couple of other systems the Play 5's are the best!!

Wow. Great piece of kit - really good sound from a relatively small unit. Really easy to set up via Sonos phone app. can then stream or listen to radio etc - adjust volume, change track or station etc. Will be thinking of expanding as and when funds allow - very impressive.

We have separate play lists but the quality of the sound is so good that we now just play while reading, working around the house and dining. It has put music back into our lives like it used to be in the 80's. Cannot believe that we dont need to know what wires plug into where and yet the sound is so pure.
