Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are audio inputs 1 & 2 a stereo pair or can they be individually eq'd and panned?

A: By default the audio inputs are controlled individually they can be assigned as a stereo pair if you wish.

Q: 2. how to disable the audio from the HDMI cable?

A: Hold down the audio button in the settings area. Look for inputs. Turn down the volume on all inputs one through four to disable audio on HDMI inputs

Q: 3. Is thee any lag when switching HDMI sources? I assume there is not, but HDMI switchers (except very high end switchers) do not typically switch instantaneously

A: There should be no lag at all. There are 2 kinds of switchers, A/V Switchers and Production Switchers. A/V Switchers are the more basic kind, when you go from input to input there is some sort of delay, in some cases it can glitch with the lower priced units. Then there are Production Switchers, which are designed with live switching in mind so they will have no delay or glitching when you go from input to input. You can even do dissolves and wipes. This is a Production Switcher so when you go between the HDMI channels it will be instant.

Q: 4. Is it possible to scale down and re-position a green screen source while using the chroma key effect? I'm wondering if I can use it to record my green screen cam feed over my gaming output. The SDI version seems to be able to zoom the inputs, but need to see if the HDMI version does.

A: Dear Phillip:I haven't unpacked my switcher yet and I am not familier with the product.

Q: 5. I'm using a Canon XA10 (HDMI 1080P59.94) and two GoPros (1080P59.94) and a Ninja 2 as my recorder which needs to see 1080i59.94 ... will this switcher do that without extra scan converters in the mix?

A: Yes, the product will scale your footage and there is a switch that allows you to select the output, including 1080i.

Q: 6. What does it mean when the HDMI input keeps blinking white when I feed from my computer? It does not show anything.

A: The most common reason for blinking input lights are a disconnected or bad cable, as noted in the previous answer. However, you will also get this if your computer is outputting the wrong resolution or frame rate. Unlike many monitors, the V-1HD unit cannot scale resolutions. Instead, it only accepts 720p (if the FORMAT switch on the back is 720p) or 1080i/1080p (interchangeably, if the format switch on the back is 1080i/1080p), which are the common HDTV resolutions. Similarly, your computer output must match the frame rate selected in SETUP (50 or 59.94 Hz, although 60Hz is close enough to 59.94). Unlike most TV sources, computers can output video at a lot of different resolutions and frame rates, and so if you get either of them wrong (check your computer's video settings!) the V-1HD won't be able to use the signal and will give you a blinky button. I use my V-1HDs with computer sources all of the time, but am very careful to keep the computer's video output at 1080p/60 at all times.

Q: 7. Can you connect to your computer via the hdmi out instead of the usb?

A: The USB port on the switcher. is for Connecting a tablet and controlling the Switcher that way. If you need to plug a computer in to display something from your computer, you can do so only by plugging into the hdmi input of the Switcher. if your computer uses a USB to HDMI adapter to display to an external monitor, then yes you could plug your computer in to the HDMI input. Hope this helps- have a nice day!

Q: 8. Can a VGA to HDMI converter be used to connect a non HDMI computer to the Roland V-1HD?

A: Yup, input 4 have upscale compatibility.

Q: 9. Can I presume that this switcher would take Line Level in audio from an external mixer like a Shute FP stereo field mixer? To imbed all in an hdmi audio/video signal out?

A: It has a left right line level input on the back of the unit. They are unbalanced RCA inputs. It will imbed into the video out.

Q: 10. Good day! Is this product compatible with all NTSC camera for input line and NTSC projector for out put ? Pls advice ! Sorry Im begginers for this works!

A: Basically any NTSC with a HDMI input can go into the switcher. All inputs must be the same resolution/frame rate as it does not scale. As long as your projector will accept HDMI you should be fine on the output. Remember HDMI cables have a relatively short distance, if you need long runs you will need to get an HDMI extender, usually runs CAT6 between the transmitter and receiver. This is a great basic product that is very easy to setup and operate.
