The Miller Skyline 90 Fluid Head is designed to support large cine cameras and rigs weighing up to 165 pounds. While most camera rigs don't weigh that much, even smaller camera rigs can take advantage of the smooth and accurate mechanics offered by the Skyline 90. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance all have zero settings, and the counterbalance can be continuously adjusted from 0-100% for fine-tuning the head's feedback. Pan and tilt drag settings each have 15 recallable click settings. Camera mounting is done by the sliding plate. Once secured to the base of your camera or rig, slide it along the Skyline 90's 11.8" of platform space. Dual telescoping pan handles are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can someone help me find how to remove the ball base for flat mounting conversion? There is no info anywhere about how to do this in the user maual. Thank you very much!

A: This tripod head can NOT be converted to a flat mount,it is a ball mount tripod head

Q: 2. Could this tripod be used for astrophotography?

A: It Depends, For star trail effects it's an excellent choice paired with a sturdy head. for shooting planets and nebula you need an alt-azimuth mount to be able track the object during the long exposures that would be necessary..

Q: 3. Can this be set up for a top- down angle shot in a small space, say on a desktop?

A: The tripod is not very small itself, so it wouldn't work really well in a small space. Due to the ball head, it also is not recommended to set it up as a top down shot. We would recommend looking into the photography tripods, that are smaller and are more easily able to be set up for top-down shots.

Q: 4. If I take off the video head, do I need to buy B&H # BEBL75 MFR # BL75 in order to mount a slider? Or does the video head separate from the 75mm ball so that I can use it to attach a slider?

A: The item B&H # BEBL75 will work perfect for you.

Q: 5. Is the camera plate interchangeable with the VT-4000?

A: The camera plates are not interchangeable.

Q: 6. What specifically is the difference between the "fixed" model and the "stepped" model? What does "stepped" allow you to do, for the price to be double?

A: "Stepped" means that you can control how easy/difficult it is to pan or tilt the tripod head. It means you can increase the drag when you want slow controlled movement or decrease it when you want to do whip pans. On the "fixed" model it is 1 size fits all there is no control of the resistance when panning or tilting.

Q: 7. Does this tripod work for the Canon C300 mk II?

A: Yes, Magnus REX VT-5000 2-Stage Video Tripod with Fluid Head has a load capacity of 17lbs. It's camera release plate comes with 3/8-16 screw which is fully compatible with your camera. If you will be using multiple accessories attach on your camera as well as long Cine lenses I will recommend the Magnus REX VT-6000 2-Stage Video Tripod with Fluid Head since it will be more steady on heavier equipment load.

Q: 8. Can the head be removed from the tri-pod for use with a different set of legs?

A: Yes, to remove the head simply unscrew the locking handle below the head and screw the head onto another set of legs. However, the other legs must have a 75mm bowl mount in order for this head to fit.

Q: 9. I have some old Bogen/Manffroto telescopic pan arms with rosette clamps. will these fit on the CX series head rosettes? they look similar but my CX6 tripod system hasn't arrived yet so I can't try it...

A: We cant know for certain without knowing the exact model tripod arm however it is usually safe to assume that it will not work. There is no universal standard rosette size/pattern for tripod arms and even Manfrotto/Bogen have a few variations of their rosette arm.

Q: 10. What does this have over the 5000 model to warrant the increased cost?

A: The big difference is the VT-5000 offers Variable Fluid Tilt & Fixed Pan Drag along with a Fixed Counterbalance. The VT-6000 has Stepped Fluid Tilt & Pan Drag along with Stepped Counterbalance. The VT-6000 is more adjustable and customizable to your specific needs, it is a more advanced model.
