The Bi-Pod 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod and Video Head from Tiltall is a compact and sturdy monopod with reversible tripod base legs for reduced pack size, nonslip rubber feet, and a two-way K-205 video head. It is made from eight-layer carbon fiber with a foam rubber leg warmer to protect against cold, and the detachable tripod base is made from steel and aluminum. Quickly set-up by simultaneously opening all twist locks. Each leg section has anti-twist protection, and there is both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera mounting threads available. A: One of the great advantages of today's digital cameras is the very high ISO ratings they have. With these high ISO's, you can shoot at a commensurate high shutter speed. Shooting at 1000, 2000, 3000 shutter speed should negate mild and even moderate shake. Of course, if you have a muscular condition that creates more than a moderate shake, then yes, I think this is a good suggestion. It is light, compact even with the three little legs. It will be good even on board ship. Of course, you will not need it for the helicopter or dog sled. I would also recommend a monopod head. This will allow tilt up and down while the monopod is up and down with the legs deployed. Here is a affordable one: Oben VH-R2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # OBVHR2. Here is a mid level quality example: Induro TH2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # INTH2. Both of these heads have Arca-Swiss type quick releases. That is to say, the included quick release is a desirable industry standard which allows instant on and off the head. Have fun and don't take any wooden pictures.
