This +1/4 diopter Diopter Brilliant² 50% Rota-Split Close-Up Lens, from Lindsey Optics, fits directly into standard 4 x 5.65" matte boxes.

This unique close-up lens is a 138mm +1/4 diopter that has been cut in half and mounted in a geared rotating tray for quick and easy alignment of the split line. Split field diopters are used to create dramatic near/far effects in a scene; the near object is seen through the 50% cut lens and the more distant objects are imaged through the blank space in the filter tray. The cut edge of the lens is usually aligned with an edge in the scene, such as a table edge, a door frame, building edge, or a tree trunk. This hides the transition line and creates a seamless near/far effect.

The Rota-Split geared rotating tray makes it easy to quickly get perfect alignment of the lens edge. Additionally, Brilliant² Rota-Split filters have a Broadband Multi-Layer Anti-Reflection Coating (MC Coating) that reduces reflections from the lens preventing unwanted ghost images and reducing stray light and flare.

Q: 1. Will this work with my Nikon D200 and 60mm micro lens?

A: Yes, this work excellent with the camera and lens. I started whit this combination!!! Good luck!

Q: 2. Is this flash compatible with a fully manual macro lens with no communication with the camera?

A: Yes, this flash will still work regardless of the lens attached. The metering and TTL systems may not, however. But you could use the flash manually at the very least.

Q: 3. is this compatible with canon cameras?

A: no, this is only compatible to Nikon cameras

Q: 4. I have a Nikon 5100 and purchased the R1C1 speedlight system for use on a Nikkor 105 mm lens. The adapter rings that came with the R1C1 system do not work. The manual says to use a UR-5 adapter for a 60 mm lens. That adapter ring does not work. What adapter ring will work?

A: The adapter ring that comes with the R1C1 system labeled SY-1-62 will screw onto the threads of the 105 mm lens, and the R1C1 flash will mount onto that ring. I just purchased the same flash and lens referenced above, and the included SY-1-62 does work.

Q: 5. Will this work with my Nikon D610?

A: Yes, the Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System will work with the Nikon D610.

Q: 6. Is this system completely compatible with a Sony a7 camera?

A: I like it

Q: 7. Does the Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System work with the Nikon Z7?

A: Yes, the R1C1 will work with the Z7.

Q: 8. Will this work with the Nikon F6?

A: Yes. As the Nikon F6 35mm Film SLR Camera is compatible with Nikon's CLS Creative Lighting System and supports i-TTL automatic flash exposure, yes, it would be compatible for use with the Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System.

Q: 9. I have a nikon D800. I'm trying to decide between the R1C1 and the R1. What factors would aid in making a decision?Thank you

A: The R1C1 comes with the SU-800 commander. Since the Nikon D800 has capability to be used as a commander for i-TTL, you do not necessarily need this piece, and could use the Nikon R1 just fine: http://bhpho.to/18Pm2rv

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Z mount bodies and lenses?

A: The Nikon R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System is compatible with the Nikon Z series cameras and the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens (Nikon Z), B&H # NIZ10528.

Being new to flash photography, I was concerned how easy it will be to use and how I could use it. The R1 system made everything a breeze that's both versatile and fun to use. First off, Nikon provides you will everything to start off with, including a diffuser, stands, ring adapters, and color gels. The wireless flash units were incredibly simple and straight forward and, since its wireless, one can arrange them in almost any position to experiment with the light. New to flash photography? This will help you become pro in no time.

I have enjoyed using this system, which I purchased mainly for taking pictures of items for sale on e-Bay. I quickly bought a third SB-R200 to give me even more lighting options. The R1 kit is perfect for close-up lighting, but its components can be used for far more than that. I use D200s and have SB-800 and SB-900 speedlights also. For close-ups, I use a Nikkor 105mm VR lens and have obtained superb results. I wholeheartedly recommend the R1.

Very good close-range macro flash kit. For my purposes I found it best to purchase a third SB-R200 flash head. I use it indoors and out with D700 and D300 cameras. The batteries are expensive but last and last. Very versatile kit. Recommended.

I have just recently started using the remote speed-light system(R1), coupled to a Nikon D70s camera. The application is macro-photography of metal fracture surfaces. So far, I have been extremely pleased with the results....

Great light on the fly. Light, easy set-up, well thought out design. A must have for really close up work at high F-stops. After having this lighting system, you will wonder how you got along without it. Made for the Serious among us!

This is an awesome macro flash system. I don't think there is any product available that can beat it when it comes to hand held macro work. With the addition of the SU-800 flash controller, which basically makes it a R1-C1 kit, you get access to the FP mode and flash sync at ALL shutter speeds. The hardware is plenty durable enough, unless you drop or throw your camera around. The system case is quite nice as well. This system also works nicely for table top studio work. Overall a well designed, flexible, and very usable system. And, surprisingly, I have taken over 300 shots on one set of the CR123A batteries and they are still going strong.

I was surprised when I opened the box, I was not expecting what I received. It was not only what was pictured, but a complete case, with slots for everything, which was also included. Nice. Put the unit together easily on my 105 micro Nikkor, opened my D-90's menu, set up the pop-up flash to be the commander and started shooting. I had bought this unit reaslizing that I could not hand hold the 105 on the D-90 and not shake. From the very first shot I knew it was a winner. Set the aperture to f/32 to get maximum depth of field, using manual mode and set the shutter speed to 200 to curtail ambient light sources and then went to town, shooting anything that caught my eye and everything I shot was a perfect exposure with NO focusing jitter. The rig weighs a bit and will probably start using an easily ajustable monopod to help with that. Head is rotatable, flash heads are moveable so you can get a Rembrandt type of lighting using one head at 45 degrees and the other as a fill light at lens axis (I reduced its output in the menu by -1.6). The kit contains just about everything you might need to do macro work except your vision and creativity. Can use other Nikon cls (creative lighting system) flash units, in conjunction with the two flash head (200s) through the iTTL of the D-90. Once the D-90 is set up in the menu; anybody can go around and take macro pictures that are well lit, sharp, the creativity factor is up to you. I would recommend this unit to anyone who has a dslr that is capable of utilizing the cls system through the camera body, D-90 etc.; if not they also make one with a seperate command module (which I don't need or have used), so I won't comment. Comes with attachable flex arm, diffuer panel, flash filters, extreme closeup head modifies, and assortment of lens screwing mounts for attaching to most Nikon lenses.
