Delivering speeds up to 2666 MHz, this 8 x 16GB kit is a memory upgrade designed to improve your computer's start-up times, overall responsiveness, and ability to handle data-intensive applications. ECC (Error-correcting code) technology enables the modules to detect and correct the most common kinds of internal data corruption. The modules are registered, feature a CAS latency of 19 and a power rating of 1.2V, and work on systems with 288-pin DIMM slots and a DDR4-enabled chip.

Note: Do not mix R-DIMMs and LR-DIMMs. Mixing R-DIMMs and LR-DIMMs will result in a memory error flash of the status indicator light when you turn on the Mac Pro.

A: I just bought the 8-core, ninth generation as well. This memory set is perfect for spreading out your memory cost, as you can add a second 64GB (2 X 32GB) down the road to get a full 128GB machine. I know itâs probably overkill, but Iâve never before had 128GB. And, given hyper-threading, having extra memory for 16 virtual cores may help in multitasking, using all those cores more efficiently. 128GB total memory is what OWC has tested and verified for this machine (Apple says it tops out at 64GB). OWC says Apple didnât have time to test the bigger SIMM cards, and thatâs why they stop at 64GB. Iâve done this â2 X memoryâ on an older 8GB-Max Apple book, and it worked fine (giving me 16GB total).
