This FUJIFILM X mount Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Lens from Venus Optics is marked in feet and provides a wide 113° angle of view. It is well suited for outdoor and landscape shots and in tight interior locations, and it is optimized for digital cinematography. It is lightweight and compact so it is suitable for both handheld shooting and gimbal use, as well as tripod-mounted shooting.

The 9mm cine lens features a maximum aperture of T2.9 with 15 elements in 10 groups. Its 7-blade aperture provides a soft, pleasing bokeh, a shallow depth of field with little to no distortion, and a 4.72" close focus distance. The focus and aperture rings feature industry-standard 0.8 MOD gearing that will accommodate standard cine follow focus motors. Small in size with a 58mm front diameter and a 55mm thread for adding filters. Focus and aperture markings are on the side of the lens to aid focus pullers. A hard-shell Pelican case with custom foam is included to protect and transport the lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This lens says it covers the super35 sensor. Can I still mount it to Canon R5 (which is full frame sensor RF mount), and shoot in 8K video and simply crop the vignette, and still have something that is super wide and at least 4K resolution?

A: This is simply not something we can recommend. This lens is designed to work with RF mount cameras that have a Super 35mm Sized Sensor such as the Red Komodo or Canon C70. It will not cover the full frame lenses of the Canon R5.

Q: 2. Can I use Canon EF to R adapter with this lens?

A: Yes, the standard Canon EF to R Adapter will work with the Laowa 12mm lens.

Q: 3. is this designed for Fullframe camera or Apsc ?

A: The Laowa 9mm is designed for Super35/APS-C sensors.

Q: 4. Is it 12mm for 35mm FF sensor, or 17mm equivalent?

A: The Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Lens for the Canon EF-mount has a focal length of 12mm on a full-frame sensor.

Q: 5. So Zero-D means zero distortion i guess? and this plus the Tstop and angle of view are the differences between 9mm and 7.5mm?

A: The Zero-D would indicate as the manufacturer states, "close-to-zero distortion". The main differences between the 2 lenses, 9mm (T2.9, 100° Angle of View) and the 7.5mm (T2.1, 110° Angle of View) are the T stops and the angles of view.

Q: 6. Is the pelican case showed in the photos included?

A: Yes, a Pelican case is included.

Q: 7. This lens does not have a whether seal gasket, would that be an issue when using it with the Komodo having in mind that I would not shoot under wet conditions only dry conditions..? Would dust become a problem over time ?

A: That is correct. I don't believe we sell it but try using the CAP IT! Covers. They are expendable AKS that protect cinema cameras from dust and rain.

Q: 8. Since this is Cine lens, is it good to assume the Iris is Declicked? Can someone confirm this

A: Yes, it is declicked.

Q: 9. can i change the mount? Or is it fixed?

A: The mount is fixed.

Q: 10. This is the same glass as the still version just with gears?

A: yes this is optically the same as the still lens
