Swarovski's 20-60x80 STR 80 Spotting Scope combines a powerful and versatile zoom capability with an illuminated reticle to give you an ideal spotter for use at the range or on the trail to estimate distances or the size of objects. With an 80mm objective lens and multiple lens coatings, the scope produces images that are bright, clear, and distortion-free across the entire field of view with faithful color fidelity even in low-light conditions. The Porro prism design provides an enhanced depth of view that offers the user an immersive visual experience.

To expand the usability of the STR 80 is an illuminated ranging reticle. This duplex reticle has stadia markings set at 0.10th MRAD on the horizontal and vertical axes, with additional ranging markings on the lower left and right quadrants. The reticle is set on the front focal plane, so no matter what magnification the scope is set at, the ranging markings are accurate. There are 15 brightness settings for use at night or in full daylight. If the reticle is not needed, it can be turned off to completely remove it from sight.

Designed for a long life outdoors, the scope features a lightweight magnesium housing that is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be fogproof and submersible to 13'. It can be used with most tripods, equipped with both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounts and a rotating tripod collar. A large focusing ring enables comfortable and precise focusing in all weather, with or without gloves. Its tethered objective lens cover ensures it won't get lost and is always at the ready when you need it.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this scope come with a padded case cover?

A: I see multiple answers with varying responses. The real answer is NO, it does not come with a padded case. However, it does come with a nicely appointed case with a heavy material and smooth zipper. The case can be left on the scope and used to as a rain cover or protective cover as it can be opened on both ends. Hope this helps!

Q: 2. Is this item included with the Eyepiece?

A: The Swarovski 20-60x80 STR 80 Spotting Scope (Straight Viewing, MRAD Reticle) BH #SW2060STR80M • MFR #86831 comes with a 20-60 eyepiece.

Q: 3. would this capture a whale at 2 miles away?

A: That is a hard question to answer. Where I'm at in the Appalachian mountains I don't have many opportunities to look that far. However, I can tell you this. At over a 1/4 mile I can see acorns on the oak trees. I can see all the beautiful craters on the moon and I can clearly see Venus and her moons and see the bands on Venus.

Q: 4. Does it have a rotating tripod collar?

A: The Celestron Ultima 80 20-60x80mm Spotting Scope Kit does not have a rotating tripod collar.

Q: 5. spotting scopes for birding

A: The TrailSeeker 80 Spotting Scope is ideal for outdoor use including bird watching. It is tripod adaptable, features a strong zoom lens (up to 60x) which makes it a good choice for long range observations. The spotting scope is also waterproof, nitrogen filled, and features a durable rubber armored housing. The TrailSeeker's multi-coated optics provides bright and sharp views.

Q: 6. Does this scope have a compatible digiscoping adapter for DLSR or compact cameras?

A: I recently bought this scope and I've only had out a few times but have been impressed so far. The only adapter I've used is for using my iPhone 6s for taking some videos and pics. I suspect there are adapters for DLSR or other compact cameras. Sorry probably not much help.

Q: 7. The specs are not available for this product. What is the eye relief?

A: 12mm (1/2 )

Q: 8. Is there a clear polarizing filter for this Scope?

A: Thank you for your question. We (Celestron) do not offer a polarizing filter for this spotting scope. We have seen in the past that other companies may offer aftermarket filters for camera lenses that may be able to work with this or other spotting scopes, however we do not officially support filters used on this spotting scope. I hope that does not keep you from purchasing this highly rated spotting scope. Thank again for asking.

Q: 9. What is the type of integrated tripod plate? (I.e. what head is compatible with integrated tripod mount without extra plate?

A: I don't know what the mount is called but the unit fits ideally with my Manfrotto tri pod with a Manfrotto 498RC2 head. The quick release works no worries.Regards Greg

The TrailSeeker 80 offers great performance at a value price. I bought it for my wife. We have a small pond outside our backyard and the scope gives great clarity to the waterfowl who inhabit the wetlands. I plan on building a digiscope adaptor which will allow us to easily record videos and pictures.

I spent a lot of time researching the options, and am very satisfied with this purchase. Yes, you can do better, but nothing in the price range comes close. Given the price and ease of setup, this is the perfect package for the price. It's relatively portable and should provide years of service.

I love it! The scope is easy to use and quick to focus. The carrying case is fab! Don't even have to take it off to use the scope when on your trip-pod. It's light and easy to carry and very clear!
