Mine says: AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6GVRII.The Vello was suggested by the sales rep as a cheaper option at half the price. After comparing the build quality to a Nikon HB-34 I bought, I should have spent the extra $12.50 and bought the Nikon HB-69. The Vello is thinner plastic and the bayonet base has less heft.

I don't have the 18-300mm but i have tried it on my 70-300mm witch is also 67mm, and it fits as well on that lens even if it does not seem to click or to lock the same way as on my 18-140mm. Considering the price of the original lens hood for the 18-300mm (a rip off) i would take a chance.
