The FB-52MAC-14 Ball Head with MAC-14 + DP-60G Quick Release from Sunwayfoto is an Arca-type compatible head with a load capacity of 44.1 lb, making it capable of supporting mirrorless to large format cameras. It features an adjustable friction control dial located on the side of the ball head's main control knob, so more drag may be applied to the ball when repositioning a heavier camera on the head and helps prevent the camera from flopping over when loosened.

The quick release receiver clamp is compatible with both Manfrotto 200PL-type quick release plates plus Arca-type plates and brackets and features a clamp locking knob.

The 1.5 lb aluminum head has a cut notch on the side, which allows the ball to vertically tilt 90°, and it pans a full 360° by unlocking the separate independent panning lock. The panning base and the quick release receiver both feature an engraved scale for precise and repeatable positioning. Additionally, the FB-52MAC-14 Ball Head can mount onto a tripod via the 3/8"-16 female thread, but an adapter bushing can also be utilized to accommodate a 1/4"-20 size. The bubble level, located on the side of the clamp, ensures that your horizon is level every time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Im new to tripods. Can I assume this fits on all Manfrotto legs?

A: This will attach to any tripod with a 3/8 male threaded attachment.

Q: 2. Can support Peak Design Arca-Style plate?

A: No it will not. You would need the Peak Design PROplate.

Q: 3. Does this grip enable the camera to be in landscape orientation and rotate up by 90 degrees?

A: No, the Manfrotto 324RC2 Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate does not tilt up 90 degrees in a landscape position.

Q: 4. I'll be using the head to mount binoculars for astronomy. Is it possible to point the head vertically, so that I can look directly upwards?

A: I don't think you can. I do not like this design. I liked the old style of pistol grip. With this style you have to use your right hand to move the grip, which is the same hand you use to trip the shutter button. The old style of pistol grip, you could use with either hand. There is no way to flip the grip on the horizontal style.

Q: 5. Hi, I will use it with my GH5 to shoot videos but only in my hard trips (traveling). In your opinion is it good for video or do I have to look for another head? I need a very light head. THANKS

A: It is a fantastic head and one I have used for many years, starting with earlier designs, BUT it is not the best for video work. I would suggest a more dedicated video head that offers better panning.

Q: 6. Does it fits 055XPROB tripod without additional parts?

A: Yes it does. The tripod has a 3/8 -16 male thread size, and the head has a 3/8 -16 female thread mount. No additional parts are needed.

Q: 7. I screwed the head on my tripod..how do I prevent it from unscrewing or swiveling at the base and becoming unscrewed over use?

A: There has been nothing implemented to prevent the following head from un screwing off the center column but applying enough tension when mounting the system.

Q: 8. Is this available in a left hand version so that I can adjust and shoot quickly with my right hand? Sounds funny but my ballhead adjusts on the left side......

A: This grip is customizable to be usable with either one's left or right hand.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the induro baby grand?

A: If it's a generic tripod head connector then yes.

Q: 10. Does it fits 3221 Bogen (manfrotto) tripod without additional parts?

A: Yes, this head will fit on the Bogen 3221 tripod without any additional parts. It mounts directly onto the tripod's mounting thread.

I use it with my 35mm and medium format cameras. Easy and simple to use. Very sturdy.

Works as good as any ballhead I have tried. A little stiff at first but I think will get better over time as I use it. I take wildlife and landscape photos. Quick attach plate works great and it is easy to mount on the camera.

What an amazing piece of technology! This head is super awesome and I have no complaints about it. It's easy to use, fits on sticks very nicely, and gives great stability and range of motion. I love this thing!

I come from a video background which uses a different kind of head so this was quite comfortable for me to adapt to. I didn't want to mess with dual knobs found on a lot of ball heads. (Note: it's not meant for smooth movement and panning). So far this has held everything I can mount on it stable - right out of the box. I haven't made any tension adjustments to it and it squeezes easily. (Reports of requiring a gorilla's grip are false). I love how easy it is going vertical with just a squeeze and flip. The grip needs to stand straight up when stored in a bag mounted to your tripod so make sure you account for the handle length.

I love these ball heads. I am left handed and often use a camera / lense combination that is rather heavy for me. I attach a left handed flash bracket to this trigger with a remote shutter release velcroed to the bracket grip. With this setup I can guide the camera around on a monopod or tripod gripping the bracket in one hand and the trigger in the other with very little effort and great precision. I don't have to move my hand to loosen any knobs in order to move the camera any direction I want. I know there are ballheads at 4 times the price that are probably this easy to use, but um, they are four times the price. And bogen plates and platforms are very easy to use and inexpensive.

This grip action ballhead is great to use. You can quickly change the position of your camera with one hand. You don't have to loosen a knob to change the orientation of your camera and it takes seconds. It can be used with either the left or right hand. There is really no downside to using this product.

Limited use so far has been excellent. I thought that I might have a problem when I would move the camera on the ball but a 3-axis bubble level made it easy.

I am trying to get used to the idea of using a tripod but I didn't want multiple controls to tilt and swivel, etc. This makes it very easy to adjust my camera in any direction with only one hand.

I use this for general tripod duties. I like it because I can change the setup lightening quick. The grip handle is easy to use and for me much more natural than twisting knobs, etc. I wish they made this a little lighter though, since it probably weighs more than my carbon fiber tripod!
