With this style you have to use your right hand to move the grip, which is the same hand you use to trip the shutter button. The old style of pistol grip, you could use with either hand. There is no way to flip the grip on the horizontal style.

A: It is a fantastic head and one I have used for many years, starting with earlier designs, BUT it is not the best for video work. I would suggest a more dedicated video head that offers better panning.
