Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens take a variable ND filter?

A: Yes, 72mm.

Q: 2. One comment said you can't see the exposure when taking the picture? Is this true? I find that hard to believe. Thank you.

A: Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens for Nikon Z is a full manual operation lens. It does not have electronic contacts to communicate with the camera therefore the aperture information is not available in the camera or under the file metadata. Any other exposure information is display on the camera.

Q: 3. Will lens transmit EXIF data to camera?

A: This lens will not transmit EXIF data since it lacks an electronic contact to the lens mount.

Q: 4. Can the iris/aperture be controlled by the camera in shutter priority? Or is this fully manual only?

A: Unfortunately fully manual. Aperture Priority works best. Shutter Priority is like shooting on Manual since you have to control the aperture anyway.

Q: 5. HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE PASSWORD?

A: First you have to go to http://routerlogin.net. Then type in the router user name and current password for your router then go to advanced settings then administration and then password. From there you can change it.

Q: 6. Can one see and manipulate the aperture via the EOS R touchscreen?

A: The lens has a manual aperture ring.

Q: 7. would anyone recommend this lens for video on a gimbal with the sony a7sii? my big concern is that since it's all manual focus it will be a bit annoying having to constantly focus on it

A: This lens is good for video and focus is not difficult but a follow focus motor would be ideal. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=motorized%20follow%20focus&sort=PRICE_LOW_TO_HIGH&filters=fct_category%3Awireless_lens_control_systems_23192

Q: 8. Does the lens communicate focal length and aperture information to the camera?

A: No electrical contacts. no communications. f stop and focus are done with mechanical rings on lens. Focusing with live view cropped in helps with precision focus.

Q: 9. Does lens have any communications with the camera at all?

A: No, this lens has no electronic contacts.

Q: 10. So obviously, there is no auto focus on this lens but does anyone know if focus peaking on the A7sII will work?

A: Yes focus peaking definitely works on the Laowa. Its best to use focus magnification to make sure you get a sharp image.
