Designed for their 1607Air case, the Pelican 7-Piece Foam Set can be used to replace the foam that came with your case. It can also be used if you need to put different gear in it than originally intended, or as an option if you bought the case without foam. This set consists of a convoluted egg crate foam lid insert, a base layer for the bottom of the case, and five pieces of customizable Pick N Pluck foam. Pelican recommends that you leave at least an inch of foam between your gear and the inside walls of the case to make sure it is well protected.

Q: 1. Hi anyone use this for a canon c100 standing upright with the top mic handle off ? does it clear well with the pouch ?

A: No, the camera is a touch too tall for that case.

Q: 2. Can you remove the Laptop Lid Insert? Thinking I want it as an option, but may occasionally swap it out for the Photography's Lid.

A: The two pouches are held in place by Velcro. Just start at any corner and peal them out, then replace them with foam. I did it with mine.

Q: 6. can I use this to transport a self inflatable life vest on a chopper?

A: This would likely depend on what, if any, restrictions the helicopter had about luggage (available space), and the size of the vest not only before it is inflated, but also after. Other than that, I cannot see any issues with using a pelican case to transport a self inflatable life vest in a helicopter.

My only regret is I waited so long to buy one. The case is awesome it meets all the requirements of the best camera transport case I have ever had. Not only on air flights but up the river where the action is. It is water tight air tight and totally protects my gear no matter what the weather and I can lock it to keep prying eyes and sticky fingers out. No more running to cover backpacks or camera cases when it rains or snows. It sets on a boat seat like it was made for it. It takes care of my gear and with the foam inserts does so very very effectively. Every thing is always in order and in place. The only thing wrong is that I need one more. But I will save until I get one.

This case is great! I match all my Pelican's by color according to gear contained within. Can't go wrong with a Pelican, and I like how the foam is in two levels so you can stack, plan, and cut easily. My 19 Samsung LED fits perfectly in here with a 3 Avenger baby plate attached to it (for mounting to a c-stand w/ grip head) and there's extra room for accessories (remote control, various cables & adapters, etc).

I use this case for transporting my lighting equipment. I have a Pelican case for my camera and accessories and am happy with its ruggedness.

I use this case mainly for gear storage and occasionally for travel. It ruggedness borders on bulletproof and the Velcro compartment separator system allows you to configure to your heart's content. If you change your mind, just reconfigure. It's waterproof and has an automatic air pressure relief valve too.

This case was the perfect size -- plus, the foam pinch-and-pull system is fantastic. Love this case!

This particular case is in use as the primary case for my Soundcraft MFXi8 audio mixing desk. I considered a soft case for the mixer but decided on the better protection that a hard case provides. I use a number of Pelican cases for my video / audio equipment, and lighting gear. Whilst the initial outlay may seem high, and the case a little heavy, what you get in return is extreme ruggedness but more importantly: protection for your valuable and delicate equipment. The case has clasps on three sides with a hinge on the fourth. The lid hermetically seals so the case will float should this need ever arise. The foam inserts are configurable so that your equipment sits tightly in place and has plenty of cushioning around it. Highly recommended.

I'm using this product to transport an underwater housing and DSLR, namely to check them as baggage. The camera and housing are used by various people at the small organization where I work, and I recommended more secure packaging to protect these expensive pieces of equipment. I have previously checked this housing in a hard cooler padded inside for local flights on a tiny plane, but am always fearful of the results since the cooler doesn't have a secure closure. The Pelican case is the most secure option short of a stainless steel box with custom padding, which would be harder to come by. I have not had this specific case very long but have used the same kind of pelican cases a lot in the past and they are extremely strong. Perfect for taking nice cameras on small boats, small planes, and storing them in the care of third parties or may or may not take much care in their handling and transport. The pick-and-pluck foam was pretty straightforward to use to customize the interior for my specific camera, easier and less messy than cutting your own foam blocks. I have some concern that the Pelican case will look expensive and attract trouble. The only other issue is that the case itself adds a lot of weight. I strongly recommend this pelican case.

Perfect size for the seven assorted lenses and three camera bodies I needed to safely store. This is the third Pelican case I have bought as my equipment list continues to expand and I haven't been disappointed yet.

This is a fantastic case and it has a great price point since it comes with the foam. It is a larger case so I use it for holding my camera as well laptop, extra batts and wireless mics. Very good value.
