Suitable for use with most DSLRs as well as larger cameras, the Genustech Gen X Plate Camera Base Plate Package 1 is an adjustable base plate with sliding QR camera plate and 15mm LWS rods. The sliding plate is Arca Swiss compatible and features over 7.8" of front to back travel with a removable camera locating pin. It comes with both a 1/4"-20 and a 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screw. The base plate QR mechanism features a safety lock that helps prevent the sliding camera plate from being accidentally released.

The base plate comes with four removable riser posts that allow you to adjust the height in two positions. Adding the riser posts adds just over eight tenths of an inch of height to your base plate; this adjustment is secure and stable without using a locking lever, which may be jarred loose. The included front rod bracket features over two inches of height adjustment using a single 1/4" screw. This adjustment combined with the riser post allows you to maintain the industry standard rod to lens height using a variety of optional cameras. The base plate's locking levers are spring-loaded, allowing you to loosen or tighten them even if you can't rotate the levers through a full 360°. Included with the baseplate is a pair of eight-inch-long 15mm rods.

The base plate includes a Swiss Arca compatible camera plate with removable locating pin, 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws, and almost eight inches of forward to back adjustment for balancing your camera

The QR release is protected from accidently being opened by a locking lever that physically engages the QR lever.

I am not a fan of L plates. I much prefer to have complete access to all of the camera functions, that an L plate blocks. Thisbottom plate provides a QD female receptacle , besides a Arca Swiss tripod mount. The unit is well machined and everything works to spec. I wish manfrotto and Gitzo would start installing these recepticals in their tripod plates. It would make carrying your camera securely, with quick disconnect a reality. A vertical tripod mount is not necessary and just adds weight to your kit. All ball mounts are designed to do vertical. .. 5

As with all Kirk products, this is very well made and is a perfect fit. I have a Kirk QD plate on my long lens, so I can use a QD attachment on camera or on the lens. Flexibility and surety through this quality product. Highly recommended. 5

Depending on the situation I may use a single strap, dual strap, or no strap. QD makes changing a breeze and this Kirk plate is with its weight in gold. Solid as a rock. 5

I needed a new plate for a Z8 to mount on a Markins Qball M-10 tripod head. This Markins plate for Z8 is unavailable in the US, but this plate looks almost identical to the one from Markins. Unlike the previous small Markins plates, this one covers about 2/3 of the bottom of the camera, and the Arca mount runs parallel to the camera body, whereas the previous Markins plates were square and the Arca mount was perpendicular to the body. This Kirk plate is solid and well engineered. It's a great choice. 5
